There is a wheelchair accessible route around the garden and you can prebook mobility scooters and wheelchairs. The garden is busier in the morning with some areas roped off - so visit in the afternoon for more access. It's definitely an earlier summer garden as lots had gone over when we visited in early August. There was a beautiful exhibition of dried flower art in the house - we couldn't see ramped access to the house. There are a couple of rooms in the house open as well. There is an accessible loo but the path to it is quite narrow so definitely not suitable for the mobility scooters you can hire. The cafe is wheelchair accessible but the queues for food are long and VERY VERY slow. Expect to wait a long time especially during busier periods. There's inside seating and a nice outdoor seating area out the back of the cafe. The shop is wheelchair accessible -...

Really beautiful gardens, connected by cobbled paths or grassy areas. Each one has a theme, eg orchard, wilderness, red borders, cottage garden. There's a wonderful variety of planting, but none of it is labelled. You'll need to take photos of anything you wish to identify and either use an Internet search or email Hidcote to query. There's a large car park with staff telling you where to park. There are plenty of loos and they were clean, with everything necessary. The cafƩ seating area is quite big, but get there early (for lunch) and be prepared to queue. You can bring a picnic as there is a dedicated picnic area as well as plenty of other grassy spaces you can sit on. There's a good size shop, plant sales, and second hand books. You need to book if planning to...

We visited on a Sunday afternoon. The weather was excellent, and not surprisingly, the gardens had attracted a large number of visitors. However, the grounds are so extensive that there was never a sense of overcrowding. As many visitors will already know the gardens are well stocked and are very beautiful. In addition to the gardens, there are; a second-hand book shop, a National Trust Shop, a cafe, and a plant sale barn. It is worth checking the website as at certain times, booking is required. This seems to apply to morning visits. It is possible to picnic within the grounds. Throughout the gardens there are seats allowing visitors to rest and contemplate the surrounding beauty . Late spring is an excellent time to visit as the roses and wisteria...

The second time I am here with the minibus and the second time I was getting through the nightmare of getting to the gardens. The first time I was told off for coming without prepaying for passengers and not letting know in advance. The second time I made a booking for a large vehicle, sent a confirmation email, that explained to me what to do, but was told off again that they do not have me in the system. The day started with fighting our way to the gardens, as a result some of the guests paid and the rest needed to comeback and pay again. The visit was very stressful with funny remarks from the staff about my origin and that if we did not book we should not be here... It's a really frustrating visit.
