I visited for the first time yesterday with my two children. At first I was disappointed (hear me out).
I had heard that Crawley happy times were there at the opening and I had heard positive things from others. We arrived & I was disappointed because it didn't seem to be as good as it was portrayed. Then..... all the best bits were hidden😃 it's actually bigger than you think if you've never been before. I was then saddened to hear that it's being closed down and being changed into an unsupervised area and all the decent stuff is being taken away at a ridiculous cost which apparently council are saying they don't have the funds to keep it going (but it costs an arm and a leg to take down the equipment 🥴.
It has a football/basketball court, toilet facilities it did have a tuckshop but that's now been stopped. Councils really know how to enrage people.
I hope to take my children back before it shuts down. (October...
Read moreSuch an inclusive environment. I went today with a very shy 7 year old, who has been deeply affected in confidence by the pandemic. There were lovely workers there and older children, of about 12, who really encouraged my son to participate in playing football. It was quite moving to watch different ages and cultures all getting along. Kids could teach the world a thing or two to be honest!
This place is a god send at the moment for families and to keep older children occupied. If they’re in this area playing football and hanging out, they’re not on the streets. The people who run this should be acknowledged for the positive work they do for the community. But I hear that the council will be shutting it down instead. How on earth can they...
Read moreVisited here today with my 4yr son. Upon arrival there was a large free car park! There is a normal park with slides and swings and markings on the ground like hop scotch. We then noticed there was another park to play in opposite it behind some trees etc. There is 3 large wooden climbing frames for older children (see pictures), a large sand pit, swings and another mound to climb and slide. The large frames are all in the shade but sand pit is not along with swings. My son really enjoyed the climbing but we did see 2 other children have horrible accidents falling from the frames so please take care. A handful of picnic benches but take a rug if you want the shade. Would definitely...
