Visited as part of the UK Heritage open days, and was excellent. One of the few Grade I listed properties in Hertfordshire, and the only building of its kind in the UK that has these type of wall paintings with such historical significance still in such good condition. I live close by and my friend and I were not disappointed.Welcomed and offered a hot drink/cake on arrival and then a talk full of interesting,historical facts and a few well thought through educated guesses by the lady owner,who is an excellent speaker and the wonderful (once in a lifetime,probably) opportunity to enjoy a lovely , well organised afternoon tea on the upstairs balcony overlooking these beautiful paintings . She identified all the figures for us - Christ in Majesty between a Pieta and his Baptism, flanked by St Peter as Pope and Pope St Clement (the first), and below St Catherine of Alexandria and St Margaret of Antioch.
