The actual ruin and surrounding areas are lovely. My experience was ruined by people though. Sitting on people's graves it's completely disgusting no matter how old the graves are or how much you need a seat! Show some respect! Then a group of young adults came and started climbing and jumping all over the ruin. I've never seen such a lack of manners and respect in one place. Maybe when you go you will get lucky and not have to deal with that kind of behaviour. You can't drive straight to it. Google maps tells you to drive up a private road at the end of the journey but don't do that as you are not permitted and there is no where to park. You stop at the church just prior to the restricted road and walk for approximately 10 mins. It's uphill then down hill. Easy walk on a well maintained road then path. If you are looking to shave some time off the walk then you could follow the sat nav to St Colmes Drive as there is a footpath from that street to the path leading down, although I don't know how much space there is to park as I didn't visit that street. Locals may not like it either but thought I'd point it out. Walk straight down. There are paths coming off the main path but stay straight for the Kirk. Lots to explore round about if you...
Read moreA lovely small kirk in a sheltered spot overlooking the forth. You cannot drive close by, instead there is a small area to park on a leading road by the Cornerstone church. From there it is a short walk on a road to the kirk, with some ups and downs if you have a pushchair or wheelchair. Some of the houses on the way have small fairy gardens which the kids will enjoy spotting. Access to the inner church grounds is through a kissing gate and the grounds are not flat and getting down to the beach is through a mud path. It's right on the coast with good partial views out to inchcolm and...
Read moreStunning location, but tricky to find if you're new to the area. Google maps takes you past the church and down to the coast through residential areas, when you actually need to turn left into the church from the main road, then either park there and walk down or drive (limited parking further down). It's a private road, however, so I got the impression that cars were frowned upon, but it's a nicer trip to park at the church and walk anyway! It looked like there was a lovely...
