Owners are a very unsettling pair, not professional in their conduct. Since the owner is claiming we are not providing a legitimate review I am editing this to include further details: We arrived in the early evening having booked & prepaid two rooms for us and our 2 children (as we have a baby and a 2 year old so normally we split up and each sleep in a room with a child). The owner seemed a bit exasperated but pleasant enough and we were tired and desperate to rest after a long day. After a brief but odd conversation where he was clearly only pretending to have read Jonathan Swift he asked us all to wait and relax in the garden whilst he got our rooms ready and we politely obliged. After over an hour of sitting and waiting with our little ones on a bench in the garden that he reemerged and said that actually we could not stay there as though the rooms were not ready, no reason as to why they could not be gotten ready beyond that it could not be done. He said that his wife was hysterically crying over this and that we would have to leave and they could not honour our reservation. We were rather taken a back and gathered our children and belongings and left very quickly and politely. He pottered off into the garden and went back to whatever it was that was occuping his mental energies. Like I previously sumised; an unsettling pair, not professional in their conduct. Pretending we cancelled our booking and now emailing us threats through the email he had from our booking further compounds that this is not a place I would...

A lovely four acres garden in a sort of Japanese style. I have to confess I was a bit disappointed, the gardens weren’t hat Japanese nor cascading, only two small waterfalls working. There was a pleasant walk with a map to guide us and mini talk at the beginning from the owner. I would have loved to see the large and medium waterfall working but we did go at the beginning of June 2022, such a shame hey couldn’t think out of the box to keep them working all year round. ( the washing up and hand washing water could have been diverted for example). We met a very helpful gardener here with long hair, he told us of other interesting gardens in the area and whilst looking at the plants to buy at the end of the walk, talked me into buying a gorgeous Ginko plant that I was about to pass on. He’s definitely an asset and should be a keeper even if he seems to have other faults. ( not that we noticed...

This is one of the best Japanese gardens that is set in 4 acres of a gorge surrounded by rock on one side and trees on the others. A truly relaxing and tranquil place to just be at one with nature and all the beauty that surrounds you. From exotic scents to high colour, unusual specimens and stonework this is truly a delight for the senses. There is a trail of seats allowing you to move through the natural waterfalls and ponds and garden rooms with a laminated sheet that lists some of the unusual plant species. There is a plant and Bonsai sale area together with indoor and outdoor seating. There is an area where drinks and delicious home made treats can be purchased. For the adventurous there is a lead mine tunnel to explore and steep steps take you to high vantage points with seating. There is a large car park and Japanese garden society information at...

What a fabulous place ! Came here on a damp n drizzly Tuesday, so we had the place to ourselves!! Nice, friendly introduction from the owner explaining what he had done and why, then left to explore at our leisure. Very calming and beautiful place with the sound of running water almost everywhere you go. It's not massive, but we were there for 2.5 - 3 hours and could've stayed longer, quite easily. It even has a disused lead mine you can explore. Reasonable entry charge and self serve refreshments available too. Customer toilet onsite. We'll be back later in the season to see the summer blooms and then for every other season I think ! Highly recommended little gem, many thanks !

Really tranquil, well stocked garden. The friendly owner welcomes you and provides a self guided tour leaflet. Moving from bench to bench you discover the garden's secrets. The garden is promoted for meditation but in reality this is difficult as someone is always waiting for your bench - but non the less the garden is tranquil with it's water features , sculptures and dense planting. A very pleasant couple of hours. There is a serve yourself refreshment area including cream scones and other cakes. The plant sales area includes an impressive collection of bonsai trees.

Amazing place. Highly recommend it to anyone who loves to look roundsl gardens. There's so much to look at, and it's all so beautiful. I can imagine it looks stunning in the summer months when all the flowers are in bloom. Would definitely go back. They also offer light refreshments, cakes, hot and cold drinks and sandwiches on request. I can confirm the sandwiches, salad and crisps was delicious. And I had a triple chocolate brownie as well which was divine and a J20. Really worth it. And the owners cat is very friendly too.
