Winster Manor! Very fond memories of our time when we visited Winster Manor most weekends from Sheffield. My family owned the manor and my mother used to run it as a senior care center. We also had a Market Garden with lots of produce. I well remember the night that we lost 1000 chicken with avian flu. We never had chickens again.
As a child aged 5/6yr, I didn’t find the local kids terribly welcoming. I think that’s natural. I think we were regarded as the rich folk from Sheffield. Despite this, we had some fun … like pancake racing on Shrove Tuesday.

This is worth a stop if you’re driving past, or in the area, I’m not sure it’s a destination all by itself! I don’t think you could take more than 30 minutes here. The model of the village is interesting, and the displays were quite charming. As per usual for me on an NT property, I want more information than they’re willing to provide, but enjoyed it as a minor diversion...
