St Peter's Church : Conisborough — Attraction in Doncaster

Starting with the first Sunday of the month: 10.30am Treasure Chest service, this is primarily for young families. However, we aim to encourage all ages of believers. A very informal service. After the service, we gather in the Alpha Rooms for a bring and share lunch. 6.30pm Breaking Bread service, this is a less formal service.

Every Sunday, other than the first Sunday: 10.30am service. Part way through the service, children will be encouraged to go to Kids Church with the activity leader. This is to engage children at their own level, with more action songs, interactive bible teaching, and often a craft/colouring.

During the week Mondays: 4.25pm- 5.45pm, the group is known as Ignite, children's group, from children Reception age - year 5. Thursdays: 9am-11am. Growing Together, this is a toddler group for families with young children. Fridays: 5.45pm - 6.15pm Kids choir practice Fridays: 6.30pm-7.45pm St Peter's Family choir practice Fridays: 7.15pm - 8.30pm Ablaze, the youth group from school year 6 onwards.

Locked and couldn't gain access. Shame, as really wanted to see the interior, not least because of its Mousie Thompsons within! Dating from the 8th century, potentially the oldest building in South Yorkshire. Was standing before nearby Conisbrough Castle was built. Has the remains of an old preaching cross in the graveyard. On the weekend I visited, there was a moving and visually impactful display of red poppies - poppies cascading down the tower and poppies sprouting along both sides of the pathways. St Peter's Church in Conisbrough dates from the 8th century and is the oldest building in south Yorkshire. Its style is the same as churches of the same date in Northumberland. It is mentioned in the doomsday book and has been altered in the 1200s. We visited on a Saturday unfortunately it was closed so was unable to see the interior. It is well worth seeing if you are...
