The gardens and parks are easy accessible by bus and foot. However if you want to park the gates close really early which is a pain when you have young adults with disabilities who love the parks but not the noise. Which is why for the last 20yrs we have always gone in late evening with them. The parks and amenities are clean. The cafe is well priced for all budgets and there is two village shops 5 mins walk each way from the park if you need essentials like baby wipes or nappies or suncream. Wheelchair friendly. Only gave a 4 star due to the wait in the cafe, 20mins for a drink, not because it was particularly busy but due to staff chatting to eachother. Also due to lack of toilets (now have 2 outdoor toilets used to have 2 blocks of toilets with quite a few toilets in each) in the summer this could get very busy. Unsure of baby changing facilities as I wasn't looking. Overall a grat place to visit with kids to burn of energy, walk the dogs or just sit and reminisce about past times or escape the world in a book. Dogs must be on leads one side of lake and be mindful of...

Very big park in kinda 2 parts. Main part have open water with many bridges over small streams/rivers and 2 ponds in park. Parking is free, so that is awsome but in buisy times carpark is full. There is separate only disabled parking by main building (cab buy hot drinks there, but I have never been inside). Disabled parking have opening and closing time but other carpark have been open all the time for last few months. Most footpaths are gravel not tarmac, something to consider if you want to keep your shoes clean. Lots of birds if you like feedig or looking (swans, ducks, some albino ducks, seagals and gees). Have fenced off kids play area. Lots and lots of space for pickniks or wondering around. Other part is more rough, have some main foothpahs but if you feel adventurous you can go off main footpaths and cross rivers in many places by jumping from rock to rock or using fallen trees, me and my 4year old enjoyed it a lot, hee needed alot of help as you must have great...

Iv not been here for years!!! but moved back to the area and I have been here twice for an evening walk with my partner and both Occasions we witnessed a large group of a Muslim family all sitting by the park area about 30 of them and there was litter being chucked around by them and there kids run around and kept chasing the swans and thay had sticks and was hitting the swans and I witnessed 2 different members of the public step in and tell the kids to stop and to leave the swans alone and the kids gave these 2 different people abuse for just telling them to stop being nasty to the animals and I couldn’t believe these kids parents was all just sat on the grass laughing and thinking it was funny and after these two events I will not be returning as I do not want to witness kids being nasty to animals and there family chucking rubbish around and laughing at there kids for hitting the animals thinking it’s ok wel it’s not ok it’s cruel and for that reason I...

Love coming to the Abbey.. They do need more parking. I'm fearful they are going to start charging soon, and I don't know why they have started having closing and opening times. Dogs can be off lead one side which is nice, but unfortunately this does mean that you will find dog poo not collected (could just be selfish owners) The parking now states a limited time allowed in the car park.. no real need for this!! There's is plenty of open space, a park area and water areas you can paddle in.. You see families and birthdays, you see friend groups, couples it's a place for everyone.. They have a lovely cafe onsite but depend on finances bring a picnic. They have clean tidy toilets.. Biggest problem with this place is the seagulls!! Which you can't control.. The swans and ducks will approach you for food, which you can buy at the cafe.. This place is somewhere I grew up playing and now take my family too..

Attractive, well maintained small park, landscaped in the early 1800s. On one side of the road there's a lake surrounded by large trees, with the impressive Cedar of Lebanon of particular note. Here, water birds gather in huge numbers. Across the road, there are ornamental water features, cascades and picturesque covered bridges. These are complemented by colourful, well maintained floral borders to create a charming garden. There's a free parking area for the gardens, but it can get very busy in peak season, so it's advisable to arrive earlier or later in the day if you prefer a quieter visit. The paths are fairly level and make for an easy walk. There's a cafĂŠ in the old Billiards Room, along with toilet facilities.

Lovely large park with lots to see. Dogs are mostly well-behaved which is a plus if you have small children. Also appropriate notices of areas where dogs need to be leashed and cafe encourage only well-behaved dogs inside which is very considerate of other guests and visitors to the park. The swans, ducks and other birds are happy to be fed. Bird food available at the shop for 60p. Wear your boots. Nice easy trails for those who may be a bit challenged or have prams or buggies. Nice cafe with reasonable prices—bright, cozy and simple. Staff at the cafe are pleasant. Toilets clean. All in all, a very lovely place for a walk or sit and read a book under a trees or on a bench. Free parking is such a bonus ❤️
