Families with young children should AVOID this cafe!
Have been hapily visiting this cafe since birth of baby 18 months ago and often meeting mum friends here. Once I forgot my flask of hot water and I couldn't even have a glass of hot water without paying for a tea or a coffee. Still I persevered as the park itself is lovely.
Today after ordering coffee and lunch for myself was repremanded by the very rude manager about how I can't bring food for my baby and that she must eat from thier childrens menu despite the fact she has allergies and also can't eat their bread or half the fillings. Plus the salt content would easily be more than her 1g for lunch. So she had to go hungry while I ate. Either this rule is only in place when the manager isn't there as I have never seen her on the 100+ plus I have visited the cafe and have never been made to feel so uncomfortable by any of the other staff who are lovely. or she is new, in which case she prob won't have many customers left in the near future!!
Apparently the reason they don't allow children to eat their own food is due to allergies which I think is total rubbish.
I will not be returning and will be sharing this review within as many networks as possible so that other parents don't also get made to feel like a criminal for feeding...
Read moreJust popped into this lovely cafe by chance with my partner who is currently in a wheelchair following a spinal fusion.
From the minute we entered, Steve was outstanding. Offering to make space for the wheelchair and was so accommodating to us.
Although he was very busy helping with the maintenance of the place, he took the time to show us the billiards room and explain the history of the building and even showed us the secret button which would have called the waiters back in the day!
We were so impressed and thought things couldn’t get any better when on the way out he kindly took the initiative to show us to the full hoist disabled toilet room which is amazing to have here!
The coffee was served quickly, tasted great with vegan options and alternative milks. There are a great selection of food and drinks available and all at very fair prices. Coffee is served in sustainable cups too!
We will definitely be visiting again and recommending this place to...
Read moreI'll start by saying the food and drink was lovely. There is a great variety & the setting is nice. However, I was a little disappointed.. we came here yesterday & whilst I was queuing for food & drink my mum sat at a table to feed my 1 year old son. A member of staff stopped her and asked her not to feed him his own snacks as they weren't purchased at the tea room. Though I fully understand the need for this when a child is older/adult. Unfortunately, my son is only 1 & the tea room doesn't sell baby friendly snacks which were suitable for him at his age. If I hadn't already returned with our food and drink I would have left...
