One of Kent's most beautiful beaches, with a sheltered cove reminiscent of the Devon coast, and dramatic white cliffs to either side. The setting is the standout feature, but there's plenty of history too. Prior to World War 2, a hotel and a number of houses stood behind the beach. Only the final couple of houses at the north end of the bay survive, but there are numerous small caves in the cliffs behind the green space with the wooden boat sculpture. The green algae below these makes the chalk very slick, so take care if you investigate these. To the south end of the bay there are colourful beach huts, a well preserved military pillbox and the Coastguard pub and restaurant. There's ample paid parking, toilet facilities, and a refreshments kiosk offering hot and cold drinks and snacks. Heading up onto the cliffs there are great scenic walks towards Dover heading south, or Kingsdown heading north.

First time at St Margaret's Beach and second time here in Dover! We took the walk from Bay Hill bus stop and walked down the foot path leading towards the steps. - It was easy but steep going down. Walking up the steps was much harder work though but thank goodness there were seats along the way! The beach has absolutely stunning views of the sea and the cliffs are amazing! Also, the beach is very stony! There were a few dog owners with their dogs. One dog in particular was enjoying swimming in the sea while fetching a ball! There is a toilet but it was filled with flies, dirty and needed a clean! Sort it out toilet attendant please! Otherwise, do check out this amazing beach! :)

It’s a nice pebbly beach with a Shepherd Neame pub, beach nuts (that should be huts - but there were people swimming in a very cold sea so maybe beach nuts too) and a couple of places to get ice cream. There is parking for campervans and cars. It all looks nice enough. I’m sure that you could swim if you didn’t mind the pebbles, pollution etc. Dogs are not allowed on the beach been 9-6 but can be in a lead on the promenade. Do be aware of the tides if you go beyond the beach. ### Random warning - your mobile will most likely think it’s in France here - be carefully if your contact doesn’t include European roaming (mine offered me £5 for a one day pass).

Lovely location, not much there but it is all about the veiws, car park is not very good made from dirt and stone, parking places not marked out very well, not many spaces for Blue Badge holder 3 I could see but 2 were taken up by 1 car with no badge, there is a small shack selling hot, cold drinks ice scream and other stuff. There is also a pub but we did not use it. We only spent about an hour down there and we were bored. The drive down is an experience down a steep winding road, take your time and hope you do not get an idiot coming the other way. Due to the car park being gravel we did notice a group of 3 cars using it to spin out there tyres kicking up dirt and stone everywhere. Nice to visit but do not expect wonders and if you have children unless you are going on the beach and they enjoy that, expect them...

Can get busy at weekends and during school holidays, pay and display car park but it's reasonably priced considering the location. Either side of low tide there's extensive rock pools, lots of shrimp, crabs and small fish to attempt to catch. The best bit..........I'm fairly sure its the closest pub on the south coast to France........The Coastguard Pub......to be totally honest, I haven't eaten there in the last couple of years, but it always used to be great food and I haven't heard anything contrary since! ( If the landlord happens to read this, then, yes! Expect discount! 😁). So......yep! Well worth a visit, great ice cream from the main cafe type place, according to my "NEARLY 7yrs old daughter", as she keeps informing me!......the coffee is really good too, and that's me informing you guys!!! So, yes!...
