I really enjoy walking here with my dog all year round. There is more than meets the eye in respect to the obvious Loch walk, there is a longer and quieter Bridal Path walk that takes you further back from the Loch with nice views and a pleasant walk past the horses paddock. Alternative to that there is another trail beside the electricity generating station and through a metal gate. Follow the concrete path past gate and veer off to the left into the trees and bushes and this will open up into a tree flanked path that is directly beside the open fields. This path is short-ish but one of my faves because its so peaceful and the panorama of the fields and countryside is beautiful all year round. Dog walkers and walkers alike can follow the path down towards the farmers cottage and take a path on the outward edge of the field to take you right up and over the fields. I keep my wee dog on a lead here to respect the farmers land. As far as I am aware there are no issues walking your dog here. I have seen many walkers and dog walkers enjoying the peace, quiet and views. There is also a wealth of rasps and other berries that grow here that are perfect for picking - just remember to leave some for the birds! :) I have also seen deer feeding and chilling out here as well. The Loch has more than first meets the eye! Oh and there is a cafe here but as there are no vegan or plant based options I cannot give comment on it apart from its restrictions to cater for varied diets...
Read moreThe car park is not all that large but it's large enough that I have never had problems finding a space. When I say space I mean a space large enough that I can open the drivers door wide. Wide because I am disabled with longish legs which I use a leg lifter to get my legs out of the car. There is a cafe with I think toilets but not sure. There is also a water skiing available though I don't know the booking conditions. There is a well used path around the water with some additional paths connected to the main path. One off these paths lead to Townhill Wood, which can extend your walk if you wish. Though the paths throughout the woods can be a bit mucky if the weather has been wet. I use a large-ish mobility scooter and have little difficulty transversing the paths around the Loch and Woods no matter the weather though snow can be a problem. The last time that I was at the Loch there were ducks, geece and swans at the edge of the water between the water and the car park looking for...
Read moreGreat walk with our Cane Corso puppy Neo at townhill loch. Neo had a great time meeting other dog's and people while out walking. The people we met were exceptionally nice and it's such a dog friendly place. Being very animal orientated it was lovely to observe the local wildlife along with the horse's casually grazing as we passed there field. Neo is new to the big outside world at 12 week's old and it's a perfect puppy starter place. I would personally happily recommend it. There is also a great little café where you can enjoy local produce along with a hot cuppa or other beverage. Fantastic meeting place to catch up with a friend at the café and enjoy the countryside view's. If you are feeling adventurous then you can also participate in waterskiing and other water sports! A definite...
