We came here to try out our new paddle board on a rainy but strangely warm day. Because it was late afternoon on a Sunday, the girls from whom we were to purchase a water sport permit decided not to charge us. That was very kind of them. The lake itself was relatively calm despite a stiff breeze. When I fell off (3 times, due to the boards having only one fin, nothing to do with me being a complete novice with bad balance!) I discovered that the shallow parts of the lake have a lot of underwater vegetation. This was a bit alarming as it made it more difficult for me, flapping like a demented whale out of water, to get back on my board. Anyway, I survived. But my favourite cowboy hat did not.
