As a huge fan of aviation, and after hearing very good reviews, I decided to book a 90 minute cold and dark simulator session. After phoning up looking for a session they gave me a slot a few days later, they even offered to move some slots around to fit me in at an optimal time. After arriving I was greeted by Andy and Collin. They were very friendly and after the offer of coffee we began our briefing upstairs. Collin explained about the setup they had and some basic aviation terms, before Andy took me over to the cardboard cockpit to familiarise myself with the overhead scan and location of flight controls and instruments. After that we headed downstairs they showed me their cabin mock-up that they use for their fear of flying course. After that the fun began! I took my seat in the captains chair, the Boeing 737-800 waiting dormant in its cold and dark state at London Gatwick. Our route for that trip was to be a short hop to Brussels with an emphasis on the start up and shut down procedures. Andy was excellent in explaining the start up procedures and after a good deal of switch flicking we were ready to roll down the runway at Gatwick. Whilst in the air I got to fly good old ‘stick and rudder’ with the aid of my instruments plotting a course for me. We began the arrival procedures in good time with Andy again providing excellent instructions on how to prepare for landing and eventually landing the aircraft. Under his guidance I touched down relatively smoothly at Brussels after a very enjoyable flight. Taxi to the gate went without a hitch and shutdown marked the end of this incredible experience.
I would highly recommend this for anyone, aviation mega fan or not. The staff were extremely knowledgable and friendly and made the flight very enjoyable.
I hope to return soon for another flight in the...
Read moreAn absolutly amazing place to go. My family and I went to experience flying a proper Boeing 737 plane simulator. There were six of us all complete novices and went as an afternoons entertainment whilst in the area. The place was set up by an ex commercial pilot which shows, as the level of detail in the simulator is impressive. Taking off and bringing it into land really does make the heart beat and that adrenaline flow, even though you are in a safe pair of hands with a fully qualified pilot by your side talking you through each step. I cannot reccomend this place highly enough. You can even get a photo and a DVD of your time in the simulator. N.b. for those who are afraid of flying they also do special courses to help get...
Read moreMy son had an hour's flying on the simulator taking a Boeing 737 from Munich to Salzburg. What an amazing experience. This is a superb place with a really nice and welcoming team of people working there. I would highly recommend the centre for anyone wanting to experience what it's like to fly a real commercial airliner. Forget your PC's flight games - they're nothing like...
