A great beach at any time of year though everyone probably had their preferred season (and weather...). It's a stony beach like a lot of the coast in this area. You can easily walk south to Aldeburgh or a bit further north towards Sizewel and the distinctive skyline. There are a couple of good coffee shops and a pub in the village - and of course the large boating lake. Definately a pebble beach. However at low tide there is a bit of sand. It was okay for dogs but not the best due to the pebbles. I would not want to come here at high tide. The sandy bit is only exposed at the very low tides (pictures taken at low tide).
There is a free car park South of Thorpeness.
