Hadlow Road train station is truly a hidden gem, and I couldn't be more thrilled to stumble upon it during my recent visit. The station itself exudes a charming vintage ambiance, taking you back in time to when railways were a vital part of daily life. But what truly made my visit memorable was the Friends of Hadlow Road Pop-up Cafe and their wonderful breakfast.

The Friends of Hadlow Road Pop-up Cafe is a delightful addition to this historic station. As soon as I entered, I was greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming atmosphere. The cafe itself is a charming spot, with a rustic decor that complements the station's nostalgic feel perfectly.

Now, let's talk about the breakfast – it was nothing short of spectacular! The menu offered a range of options, but I couldn't resist trying their bacon batch. It was a hearty and satisfying, cooked to perfection. From the crispy bacon to the perfectly buttery bap.

What sets this cafe apart, aside from the mouthwatering food, is the passion and dedication of the staff. They are not only skilled in the kitchen but also genuinely friendly and attentive to their customers' needs. Especially when you consider they are volunteers.

Whether you're a train enthusiast or simply looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a scrumptious breakfast, Hadlow Road train station and the Friends of Hadlow Road Pop-up Cafe are a must-visit. It's a unique experience that combines history, hospitality, and culinary excellence. I can't wait to return for another delightful breakfast at this charming...

Harlow station is a pleasant place to stop through while on the Wirral way, but there isn't much to do so I wouldn't make a special trip with the children. Saying that though the kids quite happily spend half an hour playing as though living 100 years ago, waiting for or boarding steam trains. There are no steam trains unfortunately. While Harlow station used to be an active station on a track that used to be the Wirral way line. The buildings and platform are all that remain now. Even the metal of the track has been taken up. The ticket office is preserved as it would have been when the station was active and it is quite quaint to see. Inside the ticket office the Friends of Harlow station advertise a pop up cafe and other events every so often.

There are toilets on site but be warned that they are used by both men and women in the same room. There are no urinals and the whole toilets are kept pleasant, clean and smell fine.

For those hot days while walking on the Wirral way some ice cream or refreshments buy would be nice but there isn't the infrastructure for that at the moment.

There is an attached car park that is...

This is a lovely old railway station that's been converted into a cafe and coffee shop. There is also a small museum and they have regular pop up coffee and cakes and daytime entertainment. On our last visit, there were Morris Dancers performing on the platform across from the main 'booking office', the place was busy, but we did manage to get a seat inside to have some brunch. The cafe itself is nice. Its a covered yard with plenty of small tables, beware though on sunny days it can get quite hot under there with little breeze and can feel like a greenhouse! Foodwise, there's plenty of good choice for both breakfast and lunch, and a good range of hot and cold drinks. Everything is well cooked and generous portions.

When we walk down the Wirral way we often call at Hadlow Road when we have our lunch stop. They have their own society who maintains the station and it's very well looked after. Had a look at the TV monitor in the ticket office to see some of the work they have carried out. I always have a look at the stuffed black and white cat asleep behind the counter in the ticket office. It looks very realistic. There are plenty of benches to sit and have lunch and wait for a train to pass through, but one never does.. They now have a cafe residing in the station, I've not tried it out yet but will do in the near future.

One of my favourite walks on the Wirral is from Neston to Hadlow Road Station, through the Wirral Way Circular Trail. I think it's essential for anybody who either lives in or is visiting this corner of the world to visit here at least once. It may actually be the most well preserved disused train station in the world, don't quote me on that, but I really wouldn't be surprised if I found out it was. The Friends of Hadlow Road have done a remarkable job restoring signs, tracks and flora to this historical landmark and have become a right bunch of local heroes in the process.
