Gorgeous location a couple of miles from Skipton. Free parking & a pleasant stroll around this small reservoir but the real challenge is to climb Embsay Crag which dominates the skyline. It's a tough walk to the top but the effort is amply rewarded by spectacular long reaching views. There is a clockwise circular walk (about 1 hour 15 minute duration) which begins from the car park via the crag but you'll need a 2.5 miles per inch map to follow the route. Whatever... refreshments are available at the excellent Elm Tree pub in...

A very enjoyable walk around this relatively small reservoir that services the nearby market town of Skipton. It’s a very easy walk to complete and it has a good large car park to start it from. All told, I think its about a mile around the reservoir, so its very doable in walking terms. Lovely location, high up with great views of the surrounding area. Enclosed circular walk ideal for dog walking, people mostly friendly. Superb access for Barden moor etc.

Great place to walk round, though can get muddy in wetter months. Great starting point for Embsay Crag. Free carpark with plenty of spaces.
