Large park with a lake and woodland. Not very mobility difficulties friendly. Review is for the areas near the lake end. There are bins/ dogs poo bins all over the park, including the entrance near the lake and around the lake. Unfortunately there seem to be some dog owners who are not using them, even saw poo in the middle of a path. You will meet a lot of dogs and their owners who are usually friendly.
The lake end of the park isn't very wheelchair accessible, most paths are light gravel and the only tarmac path is a steep gradient. There are benches at regular intervals which are useful if you can walk, but need to rest. There are picnic benches next to the lake.
The wood has dirt paths only. It has mature trees and lots of interesting fungi as some dess trees and stumps are being left for insects and fungi.
Dogs must be kept on the lead within around 100 metres of the lake due to wildlife, they are not allowed in the water. If your dog harms any of the birds/animals you will be quite rightly fined, also for not clearing up mess or not putting poo bags or litter in the many bins provided.
Swans are listed as protected birds under the Wildlife and Countryside Act, for which you can receive a £5,000 fine or six months in prison if you harm one, or allow your dog to harm one.
The path around the lake for the most part is not suitable if you have mobility difficulties, although there are benches. One part of the path is very muddy and it's easy to miss where you need to go into a field to join the main path. Avoid trying to go round the lake if you have...
Read moreWhat a gem this park is, I am so glad we found it and came for a visit. Where shall I start really 😇 the park has free parking, yey we do love free parking, plenty of space for visitors. Once you park you will notice that there are few information boards identifying the different trails you can take. We just winged it really and just walked around all the woodlandy and shaded areas as it is too hot, however some of those grassy areas did look really good and well maintained. The pathways eventually take you to the lake. It's beautiful, clear water, there are few swans and ducks too and the doggies loved dipping their paws in. Please be mindful that on the other side of the lake there are few houses and some of their hedges are a bit low in case you have a Dora the Explorer fur baby 🤭 There were also few fisherman about but they do have designated areas just on one side of the lake so not an issue really. No horses or livestock about that I can see so another bonus. A really great place for jogging, gentle stroll or a light bike ride. Overall, definitely a must see, we are going back when it's a bit cooler so we can walk...

All this location needs is a small business allowed to operate out of the main house or outbuildings
This would make this area even more inviting, but what a location, totally beautiful huge area
Lush green rolling hills, perfect for a walk/dog walk we packed a picnic and headed to the lake, was a warm sunny day sitting by the lake enjoying good food and such tranquil settings
If you've not been I highly recommend a visit, we had limited time so there is much more we plan to see
Top location
Edit
Love the location that much its going to come part of our weekly walks, went today and explored further
Discovered some rather large hills with stunning views and vantage points (just needs a bench on the top) then went off trail in the big woods to the back of the Hall
Where we found carpets of bluebells and a little stream or natural spring flowing from the top.
Took some really great photos but they don't do the place justice I highly recommend...
