Haven't visited since before the gift shop part was there. Called in for coffee around 10am with a friend. Not the welcome we were expecting...no good morning and a smile, just...had we booked a table? We were seated at a table for 2 very close to the neighbouring table for 2. (I realise it's not the biggest of places) Went to the counter to order and as I was waiting to order and was about to have my order taken, an obvious regular walked in and asked for a table (the owner called her by her name) she proceeded to order her drinks and paid for them whilst I was standing there?! The woman at the till knew I was waiting to order as did the owner....bad manners. I had a cheese scone warmed which was OK but overpowered with pepper which took away from the cheese. I didn't expect the scone to be peppery, or I wouldn't have ordered it. The owner didn't smile and wasn't particularly welcoming tho she did give us a big smile as we left! Had to walk down the road and use the toilet in the hairdressers as facilities weren't in the cafe. I understand space is obviously an issue but I felt quite awkward going into the hairdressers and explaining I was from the Little Shed and could I use their toilet. A little overpriced we thought, but that's our opinion. A pleasant morning, but not somewhere we would...

Didn’t have a great first experience if I’m honest. My sister rang me really upset after her afternoon tea, as she had been charged extra for several things and wasn’t happy. She wrote an email for them to stick up for staff members, when they were rude and not attentive. We were cramped next to the gift shop and people kept coming in and out who were visiting the shop. We felt awkward because we couldn’t find anyone as they were next door in the hairdressers. Food was nice that’s one positive, but no one said anything about charging extra for tea. Of course tea will go cold so people will want a fresh tea, surely that’s what an afternoon usually includes tea? I can understand paying extra for other drinks but not tea. We couldn’t even take many photos and my sister has been looking forward to this moment for years of struggling and being ill with her pregnancy and as we walked around the corner to get a nice photo of us all, we noticed another baby shower, who looked like they were having a great time and they were all sat together and didn’t look cramped and it looked 10x better. So disappointed! Sadly won’t go again after everyone left feeling disappointed...

Tried to book online for an impromptu Sunday breakfast, the website said to phone them instead. Phoned a couple of times, no answer so we decided to walk up to the cafe and see if there was any availability. Luckily they did and we were told to take a seat anywhere we liked. No menus on the tables and nobody available to ask for one, ended up asking another customer to use theirs once they had ordered. Placed our order inside at the counter at around 11.15am. Drinks arrived around 15-20 minutes later. We were waiting for our food and noticed that the table next to us, who ordered after us, had received their food but we hadn’t. It then got to over an hour waiting for our food, so I went inside to ask, I was just told “yes it’s coming, sorry” quite insincerely. Our food arrived about 10-15 minutes later (approx 1hr 20mins after ordering), again no real apology or explanation. We were asked if we needed anything else, we asked for some cutlery, which took a further 2-3 minutes to arrive. Baring in mind it was an English Breakfast and an Avocado on toast, absolutely ridiculous time to have to wait with no explanation. Will not be...

Went on a Sunday for afternoon tea for 2. Really nice food, sandwiches and scones tasted really fresh. I would have preferred a larger coffee option when compared to the size of the tea option. Minor negatives would be the place is pretty small so you are quite close to other people and my and the wife's date lunch was happening next to children loudly playing. Also the toilets are in a different building, you have to go outside on to the street and to the gift shop and the toilet itself is far from accessable with a door than doesn't open properly and a really cramped entrance. Obviously trying to do a lot with limited space, but possibly too much.

We ordered a vegetarian afternoon tea at the Alstree cafe to collect today. Every single part was absolutely delicious. Whatever pickle/onion marmalade they use for the cheese and pickle is particularly good! Really chuffed with it and so nice to munch away in the comfort of our own home. It was very filling too! Would recommend!

We had a delicious afternoon tea to celebrate my mum's 70th birthday today. Beautiful space, lovely staff, delicious sandwiches, fresh fruit and cakes, scones and cream! Will definitely return soon!
