This is a weird but awkward review yet a good one The grounds itself is rated 20* The cafe ill rate 17++ but no stars Must appreciate the fact it was busy however waiting more than 40 mins for a simple bacon butty that should only take 10-15 mins give or take from ordering it started to make me feel uncomfortable with all the noise overwhelming me I would certainly recommend the food and it was worth the wait but for one item to take so long was annoying Inside the cafe is nice however I would reccomend that they offer menus to take out side so that autistic people I.e like myself can not get overwhelmed by the noise The coke I was told when asked anitialy £1.20 then when my bacon butty arrived was then told £1.25 The bacon butty was £3.25 I will happily go again but not quite autistic friendly however manageable I nearly walked out asking for a refund after waiting for so long but it turned up
I WILL GO BACK FOR FURTHER UPDATE ON REVIEW I THINK IT DESERVES AN HONEST CHANCE TO UP MY RATING BASED ON MY VISIT ANYONE WHO IS AUTISTIC I WOULD RECOMMEND SOMEONE GO IN AND GRAB A MENU FOR THE AUTISTIC PERSON ALTHOUGH I DON'T THINK THEY HAVE ANY MENUS TO GIVE OUT I AM REFERRING TO THE TEA CAFE NEAR THE DISABLED CAR PARK IT IS ACCESS FRIENDLY BUT THE DISABLED CARPARK IS SMALL AND NEEDS...
Read moreI visited here today with a vulnerable adult who I was supporting for the day. After a nice walk around the gardens we decided to have a coffee stop before continuing. Once in the cafe I ordered two coffees but asked to pay for these separately. The young girl who served us called over the owner and asked if she could complete the sale as the card transactions were less than £5. The owner immediately said no it’s a minimum of £5. I explained politely to her that we were spending over £5 just over 2 transactions, that I was a carer and we needed to pay separately. The lady owner then proceeded to roll her eyes, turn her back on both myself and client and just said fine a few times as she walked away from us. As you can imagine this was very embarrassing as it was also in front of sitting guests. I would also like to add we paid full price to get in even though both the castle and part of the garden where under construction. We felt so uncomfortable we cut our outing short and immediately left. I looked around the cafe whilst inside and there was no mention of a minimum payment anywhere. It’s sad that one person can ruin the experience of our day rather than be polite. I will not return here nor would I ever consider bringing...
Read moreI went to the plant fair here because entrance was about half price - just as well. The fair wasn't up to much, but I daresay arriving an hour or so after opening meant the best stuff had gone.
First impressions of the pools and surrounding walks were favourable. The gardens were disappointing. The extent of flower garden, as opposed to tree and shrub walks, was very limited. There was a huge amount of repetition in the limited range. It was as if a job lot of plants came off a lorry and each year the perennials were divided up and redistributed. The rose garden was not looked after. The plants badly needed dead heading and there were many gaps.
This was a place for walking but flower lovers coming just to see the gardens may be disappointed especially if paying the full price.
The owners need to get out of their pretty castle and invest a whole lot more in the land. It needs a better/larger gardening team and a muvh more diverse range of...
