Bewilderwood Presents Christmas with light Trail and Mini Panto.
What a Magical experience for the children to see and to see their faces light up as we walked around the light trail. To attend the event was reasonably priced and don't get me wrong, it was a beautiful walk, but, there was a few issues that left us fuming.
I know they say, "you can't put a price on Children enjoying something" and that's true, but if I'm being completely honest, take your child some pack lunch, as the on site Food hut prices are shocking and what you get for the children will leave you angry.
So the kids Munch Box consisted of a sandwich, Ham or Cheese, we opted for cheese for both our children with Autism, it was a cheap small finger roll with barely any cheese on them. On one of them, it looked like they used the last bit of cheese, the crumbs, about 10 small broken pieces spread out on it. On the sandwiches it had a singular price tag of £2.00 which would of been a complete rip off on its own. There were 3 more items in the box, a packet of Hills Ginger Bread men (these biscuits are so cheap and bought at major supermarkets in big boxes), a packet of Pom Bear crisps (again, cheap crisps sold in multipacks) and a carton of orange juice with no straw, our kids couldn't drink them as they are use to cups with straws or fruit shoot bottles. The price for the Munch box, £5.25, so if the already rip of sandwich costs you £2, you're paying an extra £3.25 for the other items which is not worth it at all. I know they have to make a profit, but they are being absolutely greedy.
For 2x Munch Boxes, 2x SMALL Ginger Reigndeer 3x hot chocolates and 3x Peppered Steak Pasties, total was £27.30, so very pricey.
Next, before we entered the walk at 6.30pm, there was a board that stated the times for the mini panto with 7pm being the last one, it took 15 mins to walk half way to be greeted by a women to say, next show at 7pm and if we want refreshments, you have to go past the entrance to the panto to form a big queue at the food hut. The women did say they ring a bell 5 mins before to let us know, so we only had 10 mins to get food and sit down, eat and get back to show. This, was impossible with 2 kids with Autism, when we sat down to eat and looked at time, it was 7.05, we heard no bell, so we rushed to the exit of panto to be told we were too late, but then was told, we may do another show at 7.30pm if enough people turn up, so we were hanging about from 7.05pm till 7.30pm at the exit to panto not knowing if another show was being put on and with 2 kids getting unsettled because they thought we missed the panto. Luckerly, they did put on another show but this could of been stated on the board at entrance so we didn't have to rush to try eat our food and wait 25mins.
So all in all, lovely experience for the kids and worth the entrance fee, however, the organisation of the experience was poor and the food was expensive. Would we go again? Of course, but we will be taking our own food/drinks and avoiding the Rip Off food hut. Hopefully, the organisation of the event...
Read moreVisited with my son in the summer holidays. i didn't really know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. The layout and sprawling pathways around the woodlands is a maze in itself never mind the actual tree top mazes which are great fun to explore (Sky Maze in particular kept us occupied for ages!). Everything well sized for both adults and children to get around (though adults worth noting that any steps are lower height that you might expect i.e. child friendly!). There's a few activities such as the Storytelling Stage and the Character Meet and Greet which we did get to and enjoyed (we didn't get around to the crafting tent).
On facilities, we queued for all of 1 minute to get in. There were loads of picnic tablea available in two main areas near their food sellers. Toilets were small but clean and well placed around the site.
Outdoor adventure play on this scale can sometimes be a bit nerve-wracking for parents but the construction was solid and I didn't see anything that made me worry that they'd fall - it's a great set-up and exactly the kind of activity I'd been looking for. We would definitely go again 😀
Quick note on prices having read some of the more negative Google reviews. I felt the pricing was fair for the scale of the adventure play on offer. I've seen other places similarly priced with only a fraction of the activities so I felt BeWILDerwood was good value. Yes parents have to pay to enter but the fact you can access all the equipment means you can get just as much out of it as your kids. (I've seen some 1 star reviews comparing with local parks saying they offer more/better adventure play than BeWILDerwood - I'd call these out as grossly misrepresenting what's on offer here as it's very easy to spend several hours playing across the various acitivities at the site!). We also bought lunch there which was costed fairly averagely - again, I've found many other places proving far more...
Read moreWe attended this ‘ family attraction ‘ last weekend - after having a lovely day in a lovely venue it unfortunately ended in an awful traumatic experience , where my grown up daughter had a boiling hot drink thrown directly at her head & body by another family attending on the same day ! Resulting in a very traumatic time for myself , husband , daughter , son in law and 3 young children youngest being 16 months old !!! Was such a good job that this boiling drink of hot chocolate didn’t catch the baby and burnt through his very delicate skin ! Families like this should NOT be allowed into social areas !!! especially where there young children - whilst staff were ok ( but very young workers ) and the family were taken off premises we then endured 2 hours of filling forms in along with other families who’d witnessed the whole dreadful ordeal , in actual fact police should have been called there and then to the woman who had pre empted throwing a drink as she said it prior to actually doing it !!! This is ABH , we were refunded and offered a free return visit by my 7 yr olds were too traumatised and are still scared having nightmares and are showing signs of anxiety in social places - This certainly wasn’t what we’d planned on a 3 generation family day out Although it does say parents are responsible for own children this family allowed their children to run around feral ( even hitting us adults and screaming at us at such a young age ) but with parent throwing boiling drinks I guess they aren’t taught acceptable behaviour - videos uploaded contains upsetting scenes and language from the other family - ( this ap will not allow me to upload videos of this horrific attack , but pls all be very very careful in this place and remain vigilant at all times as what was so traumatising could have ended skin grafts )
