Really nice old hall with beautiful grounds. We stayed in the national trust apartment in Fountains Hall. Doesnt cost much more than a premier Inn if you divide it by 3 people and right in the grounds within yards of the Abbey. Access to all the amazing grounds and the Abbey after the public go home. Nearby, there's lots to do even in February when you would think most attractions would be closed. There are 2 National Trust flats in Fountains Hall and other, larger cottages dotted about the grounds of the Abbey. The Abbey mill is fascinating and full of informative displays and demonstrations. Contrary to what you may think, Fountains Hall isn't built from the ruins of the Abbey - just the odd bit here and there! Read moreFountains Hall is a hidden gem within Studley Royal Park. You will love its historic charm, built from the stones of the nearby abbey, and its connection to the stunning Elizabethan and Jacobean architecture. Only parts of the hall are open to explore, but the exhibitions provide a fascinating glimpse into its past.
The real highlight, though, is the setting. With water gardens, roaming deer, and the ruins of Fountains Abbey just steps away, it’s a perfect mix of history and natural beauty. A fair bit of walking is involved, but most find it well worth it.
Highly recommended for anyone visiting Fountains Abbey – it adds character, history, and scenic...
