Great place to visit with your doggies. There's ample space in the car park and it is free of charge. Once you start your walk towards the left there is a wet grassland. My doggies love it but I would recommend wellies as it is wet. 🤭 There are no livestock here however behind the huge trees there's a pathway where occasionally you'll see horse riders. Further up you'll find another lake and massive fields. Again there is the occasional horse rider so if your doggies are not good around horses keep them on the lead. The good news is once you reach the Manor Floods you can see all the fields as it is relatively flat. Once you start going back you'll see the entrance to another set of fields. Be aware that there are cows here, no signs to say there are any so just be mindful. The whole area is wet and muddy but it is a good fun walk. Read moreI regularly visit the small nature reserve around the lake and it's a lovely experience. The reserve is conveniently located adjacent to the Nut Brook Trail, a popular cycle and walking path. The reserve offers a serene atmosphere and provides an ideal spot for a picnic with plenty of benches and picnic tables to choose from.
The lake is home to a variety of waterfowl including ducks, swans, and geese which add to the peaceful ambiance. Walking around the lake offers stunning views, and the path underneath the old railway bridge provides a charming touch. It's a great place for a leisurely stroll, however, it can be a little muddy and slippery at times, so visitors should be cautious.
Overall, I would highly recommend this nature reserve to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The lake and the surrounding environment offer an idyllic setting that is...
Read moreStraws Bridge is simply lovely, there are numerous tracks to walk, or cycle around, always so well maintained. If the weather has been a little indifferent you can look at the various paths to choose from and you don't have to end up covered in mud. No motor cycles or quads allowed though. We also take with us a bag of bread and wild bird seed, when you finish your walk you can feed the various birds on the main lake. Known locally as Swan Lake (You will know when you see it) This is also where you would park. You can also just take a short walk around the lake if that's how you feel. A really nice family environment for young or old, also wheelchair freindly, all for...
