Lovely location, peaceful and quiet, lots of birds. Booked here to meet up with family. We stayed in a chalet on the edge of the lake. Fantastic time, picnic bench, we brought a little off the ground bbq. Access to the park is a remote gate (you are issued with a fob) plenty of parking at the side of the chalet, we had 2 cars. The chalet was clean and homely. Good size bedrooms (2), one room a good size double bed, very comfortable, the 2nd room had 2 bunk beds, that were adult size. The kitchen was was equipped, good size fridge and oven and included a microwave. The lounge was spacious, with 2 settees and a table and chairs. Bathroom fair size but thought a bigger sink and more accessible shower cubicle, but plenty of hot water for a shower. Bedding included but take your own towels. I would highly recommend this location for a quiet relaxing getaway. Public toilets Nd a laundrette is very useful. Small necessities at the reception shop. A very warm, friendly welcome, the staff were extremely helpful. Great customer service. I would definitely book there again if I visit the area again.

California Country Park is a little hidden gem. It is a place where you can go for a walk, a cycle, some fishing, and play on the swings with the children, or just a relaxed ice cream and a drink from the onsite cafe. The Countryside Rangers have worked hard to both keep the facilities looked after, and also improve the experience too. A refurbished car park including electric charge points, cycle racks, and easy to use disabled bays has helped to give the facilities a much needed upgrade. A new multi use path now links the park to the FBC centre and alongside woodland, increasing accessibility for all users. All credit to the local authorities and all involved in the ongoing upkeep and improvements to such a treasured and well used public open space. The Country Park also has its own camp site that is very popular and really inviting. If you have never been before, it’s a lovely place to visit for all ages.

Very nice park, it's been renovated so the cafe, and children's play area are very new. There's ample parking but it will get busy on nice days. The children's play area has a water play area, various climbing areas, adventure play areas for toddlers, young kids, and older kids. There are hammocks, a novel trampoline like mat, spinning platforms, mini climbing walls, slides, swings, etc. There's a snack hut that serves hot drinks, and ice creams, coffee is OK, but not worth the money. The cafe was closed when I visited, as was the paddling pool. There's a lake that you can walk around, though one side is part of a static home park. The only negative is that the parking, which does contain electric charging, is a bit expensive at 1.65 an hour, otherwise it's definitely worth a visit when the weather's nice.

We stayed at a campsite within the park as we thought the location would be great for walks with the dog. A lovely lake at it's heart full of birds and wildfowl, with several varieties of ducks and geese, moorhens, coots etc. There are plenty of well maintained paths, ideal for wheelchairs and buggies, also with excellent signage. An absence of litter reflecting good maintenance of the grounds. There are plenty of dirt trails and off the beaten track trails less suitable for wheels. For children, there's a playground with a paddling pool, although closed when we were there. For dogs theres evem a coin-operated dog wash! The cafe is a real gem, with ample indoor and outdoor seating with high chairs for kids and good toilet amenities. We found the area serene and lush, lovely to explore.

Beautiful little park, perfect for families. The playground in particular is brilliant for all ages and has a little water play area for hot days which is free (not to be confused with the lillo that is only open in the summer holidays and you need to pay). The walk around the lake and nature reserve is well paved for pushchair, though won't take you long to go around. Plenty of spaces for picnics, and a lovely cafe if you are feeling lazy. Wish there was more picnic spots around, and the parking is expensive if you are not coming for the day but only want to pop in for an hour or two. Still, a wonderful place to spend a family afternoon with all the amenities you need.
