Large nature reserve with an atmospheric secluded beach overlooking the channel. The area was formed by coastal erosion meeting waterlogged mudstone and slumping cliffs. Stand long enough by the mud bank and it's possible to see the ground moving. The Gault clay over Greensand geology is one of the best places in the area for fossil hunting. At one time the Warren was a popular tourist attraction with its own railway station halt, but is now a much wilder environment. Some of the paths can be very muddy in winter so it's worth bringing decent walking boots. Be prepared for a steep climb if you're following the zig zag path up the cliffs to the coastal path. Extensive concrete sea defences have been installed to protect the railway line. These provide a long flat walkway by the sea, though do detract a little from the natural beauty.

Folkestone East Cliff and Warren is a beautiful and diverse country park that offers stunning views of the White Cliffs, a rich wildlife, and a fascinating geology. Whether you want to enjoy a relaxing picnic on the lawn, explore the rugged landscape of The Warren, or discover the fossils and rock pools on the beach, there is something for everyone here. The park is also home to three historic Martello Towers and a variety of trails that showcase the seasonal changes in nature. Folkestone East Cliff and Warren is a must-visit for anyone who loves nature, history, and adventure.

Every trip to the Warren you make, you'll find some really great treasures! A beautiful area and a must visit for anyone who hasn't been here yet! Just be careful if you drive your car down the access road, as there's lots of potholes.

The Warren is a great outdoor space. Whether you prefer the fossil hunting along the rugged shoreline or just want to play in the sandy beach area at the foot of the Gault clay cliffs you will have a great time. One or two of the paths have had small landslips near the beach, but the main path down is fine. There has been some previous beach repairs that has covered the first ten yards of the beach with rough rocks to walk on but once you are past that then it's fossils to the right bucket and spade with the kids in the sand to the left and plenty of beachcombing at low tide. I go there...
