Lovely place for a gentle stroll and/ or a picnic. Close to car parks, public toilets and Newent town centre. Woodland wildlife including banks of spring flowers can be seen, as well as water birds etc. Paths are suitable for pushchairs, and some for wheelchairs. There is a small, rustic style children's playground and you can can buy duck food in the nearby hardware shop. There is coarse fishing, for which both an Environment Agency Rod Licence, and a permit from the Town Council are required, available in season to residents and a limited number of non-residents. A recent addition to the lakeside walk is a striking wildlife carving, to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Pleasant stroll around next to the village centre and church. Good parking. On a good spring day with everything blossoming it was very nice.

Newent is a small town n Gloucestershire home of the the National Birds of Prey Centre and at the heart of the Gloucestershires daffodil golden triangle. One of it's outstanding features is the lake, originally thought to have been built by medieval monks it was incorporated into the grounds of the new defunct Newent Court. There is a pay and display car park adjacent to the lake grounds and an attractive park area before you come to the lake. You cam often see carp swimming alongside the wall between the lake and the park grounds. A very pleasant walk takes you right around the lake. The fish in the lake are looked after by Newent angling club who retain the fishing rights to the lake. Most of the common parkland birds can be seen and a good population of bats frequent the lake in...

Beautiful lake walk with surrounding park, resident heron, egret, moorhens and lots and lots of ducks! Wonderful place for families as there's a small children's play area, picnic benches, sculpture trail and plenty of room to run off some energy. There's an adjoining woodland walk which is also very pretty. The paths round the lake are comparatively flat and quite accessible, though one stretch of path does get very muddy in wet weather. The woodland walk is not so accessible with slopes, a bridge and a fair amount of uneven ground, as with the lake the paths do...
