Had the place been busy? Yes! and still a smile and cheery greeting from the staff as I walked in. Then the place filled up again. That's how it goes. Just a couple in front of me but 3 more followed before I sat down. This on a day when the waitress expected a quiet day- the weather was awful. My partner and I sat outside, which was lovely, as we watched the birds hop around the bird feeders. They even sell plaster ornaments for your garden. My partner is in a wheelchair, but there's special access paths to part of the local woodland, which she enjoyed. You can go onto the main path onto the Derwent Walk, though you should be aware that some of this has steep slopes, so you'd need to be careful if in a wheelchair or if you feel your mobility isn't great. The cafe is outstanding, a really clean and tidy environment that sells lovely food, drinks and even birdseed. There are trails that go either for miles or a shorter walk with wheelchair access thanks to the trust that has transformed the area so it's accessible and able to be enjoyed by all. This is the future of being able to get close to wildlife and with the convenience of a Cafe that even has a public toilet and a very clean one at that.
