What an amazing park this is!! It's so close to where I live and yet this is my first visit!! It's absolutely huge and a great place to walk, take the kids / dogs.

There a small cafe that opens at weekends. It's ran by local volunteers, and would highly recommend visiting. Such a friendly, warm welcome by everyone there. The prices are extremely competitive too. They always have homecake cakes available too and they're amazing. For two slices of cakes and a couple of chilled cans, they only charge £3. They also have free maps of the park too. I'd really suggest taking one (as apparently a few people do get lost, with it being so big).

Part of the mill has been restored (next to the cafe), and believe you can see it working on Saturdays (not sure of times). The renovation has been achieved with the help of Lottery fynding of circa £1.3M. The money raised from the cafe also gets pumped back into the area too.

There's an adventure playground about 15 minutes from the cafe, and picnic benches are close by too.

If you like camping, there's a small site that seems to cater for tents too (unsure about cost).

I for one will definitely be returning, as know I've only scratched the surface...

Lovely hotel, lovely staff, fantastic interesting old building full of character and charm. Good service and fairly cheap. Nice food. Nice bar and haunted too !! @@@####&&&&& ::Updated Dec 2022.;We stayed for Christmas time after having stayed here 2 times previously. Now owned independently and no longer by Best Western the hotel remains a fascinating old building with old wood panelling and spooky spiral staircases which were formally servants stairs are now used as emergency exits. Staff remain especially hardworking especially Declan, Linda and Rachel who deserves a special mention for going above and beyond. Unfortunately no longer dog friendly under the new owners; our dog being an assistance dog was allowed in but only after some effort and explanation of the requirements of assistance dog access under the equality act. We presented the hotel staff with a leaflet explaining their obligations under law which we hope will mean that others with assistance and service dogs will be welcomed from the offset as we...

One of the best if not the best country parks in Nottingham lots of amazing views and scenery and a lot to explore in the forest there is a lot of trails around the woodlands which make a great spot to walk your dogs go for a walk or even a bike ride and there is also one of the first dual coal mines which has been restored and lots of information about the old coal mining which went on at bestwood country park before it was turned into a country park there is also a viewing point which you don't see too often anymore which over looks bulwell moor bridge and hucknall with some stunning views especially in the rare sunny weather we get in the UK. Best wood country park is also very close to mill lakes which is a must to visit if your planning on coming to bestwood country park if your interested in seeing some pictures about mill lakes I recommend viewing my reviews as I've visited quite a few places and took some...

Great place to take the family for a fun adventure or you to enjoy a long walk in various settings, allowing you to relax and unwind. Two free car parks, one at Bestwood Lodge, the other near the iconic beautifully preserved Pit headstocks. A range of safe walks to suit all levels and abilities including hills, woods, lakes and parkland. Variety of wildlife can be seen on the water or on the meadows. There is a kids playpark, adventure park and lots of grassy areas for picnics, The river Leen runs through the park and fish including Brown Trout, Minnows and Sticklebacks can be seen too. Well worth the visit and hats off to the council for maintaining this open space on the edge of Nottingham and keeping it free and accessible to all.
