The Beggar's Bridge is an atmospheric little spot in its own right, as well as being the gateway to some truly amazing scenery both up and down stream along the river Esk. I took a circular route to and from Egton Bridge, following the northern side of the river on the way to Egton Bridge and returning along a segment of the Coast to Coast walking route on the way back. There were plenty of chances to see traditional British wildflowers along the route, along with some brilliant river scenes. Read moreVery pretty stone bridge with interesting history. There's parking for half a dozen cars or so, and plenty of walks directly from the bridge. Once you're up higher the views are lovely and it is a steep climb up through the woods, but worth it. It's a great photo opportunity and there is an information board there with more detail.
