We wanted somewhere quick and nearby to go so thought we would have a wander over.
This is a first rate place to stop. The car park is useful and the gate and and welcoming buildings are well marked and there is also a guide sheet to follow for the one mile walk with a first stop at the mill which is a little down the road by the stream.
The next part of the walk carries on along a stream and we came across three ponies which graze on the National Trust land. The walk then joins the South West coastal path with access to great views across Poltesco Cove. One carries along to the pebble beach and then up past the Old Serpentine factory ruins which again are well marked and good to explore.

Read moreA small pebble beach with the remains of the old Serpentine Works. There is also an old fish processing building with the orginal winch room and a plaque explaining how it worked. If you walk through the works away from the bay you arrive at another plaque to read, behind you the water wheel housing and next to that a lovely designed wooded footbridge over the stream that once fed the wheel.
