This was the best castle tour I have ever experienced. You notice that the museum management or the staff for this exhibition really burn and live for it. In many other exhibitions where it is shown how people lived at that time, it does not seem as if people really lived in it, totally unnatural, often much too dark or you see dust everywhere. This is quite different in this exhibition in the castle. In many rooms you really feel like you've been transported back in time or that people left the room 5 minutes ago. First of all, I noticed the good lighting everywhere, the many small details that make a room homely and you do not see dust anywhere. The people working there were all super friendly and you could tell that they love their job. As I said, I was really thrilled. The rural surroundings and forest around are also worth a walk. The small forest is home to very large, old trees. I can only recommend a visit to everyone. We Felix and Viola from Hamburg were in any case very...

The guides were excellent. One thing that really let us down on the visit was the hospitality or lack there of in the cafe/restaurant. When asked if could purchase a cold can of coke was bluntly told "no" hot drinks only. Maybe she couldn't be bothered undoing the bicycle lock on the fridge. So that why I couldn't be bothered giving my custom on principle. Her customer service skills were appalling when she was even at the till. After 2 failed attempts we gave up. Save your money and go elsewhere. This sour and unhelpful attitude was a stark contrast to the welcome given. Without visitors and custom there would be no jobs and some would be mindful to remember this. I won't ever forget the fridge locked up with a bicycle lock nor the terrible attitude of the one cafe staff apparently on duty. We only seen this dour individual...

Such a lovely place spend sometime to think about the next place you are going to buy your next sofa sleeper . You would think Ikea...but this place has a mucher better environment for such endeavors. I also had time to balence my shops checkbook. I just never seem to have the time. Though they tell you it's haunted, most of the things I say I could blame on the large amount of hallucinagenics I slowly enjested over the week or so that I spent hiding out in the attic. I did find some lovely reading materials and some interesting "personal" items grandpa picked up from his time in the military in Tibet. I'm sure they information leading to the arrest of the local lochness. But I digress Great staff...very nice meatloaf and the best home and garden tips from malasia. nice...

It seemed a little complicated queuing up to get tickets..we had to stay in our car and lean out of the window to attempt to hear a lady in a ticket booth! Once into the castle grounds we began to explore - arriving at the castle itself to hear the bagpipes played extremely well by the resident piper. We entered the castle and were told about the one way system and a background of the castle. Pleasant staff if somewhat distant in their interaction with us. Grand castle with a multitude of artefacts to view. Full of game victories presented as heads / antlers and various taxidermy on display. Expensive tea rooms (£8 for two small bottles of lemonade!!) clean toilets in the restaurant. Gift shop well stocked however again expensive

Lovely castle with 30 rooms to explore. I visited here many years ago as a kid, and enjoyed it coming back. Lots of fun history to learn about, and some great artefacts to bring them to live. The bagpipe player was a real hit with the overseas tourists who videoed most of his 15 minute sessions throughout the day. A nice big cafe (which I didn't use but seemed popular). The woodland walk amongst the 50m high trees was really enjoyable and a nice step change from the pomp and ceremony of the castle. The walk upto the ruined little Kirk was worth it. Then back towards the car park and onto the formal gardens which were superbly maintained. A great day out. Handy tying in with a trip to Pitlochry and the dam.
