Such an amazing beach right here in 🏴 just 5hrs by train or 3 and a half by car from Glasgow Central. ⛱☀️🌊🏝🐚
This was July of 2021, but I’m sure the beach is still intact and very beautiful just as it was two years ago.
Pros: When the sun comes out, the water close to shore turns into a turquoise colour. Lovely white sand and an amazing view. Easy access and just a short drive away from Glasgow, free parking, lots of space for dogs or children to run about, beautiful clear water to swim in, rock pooling, white glistening sand to play with, and many other opportunities of having fun out here.
Lots of B&B’s near by, holiday rental homes and caravan possibilities - are all available and can be accessed easily online.
Cons: bear in mind the parking bit is a bit small and may not be so easy to find it, the water can still be cold even in the summer, and during our last visit we encountered many jellyfish. Also not so many shops around (your nearest Co-op will be in Mallaig). Not many facilities on the beach.
Overall it’s a great location and we would...
Read moreSmall free car park...then a gentle walk to the beach. I loved walking through the shallow fresh water leading to the sea. Beach is white/cream sand, with a few dunes. People were boating, swimming, paddling...we walked along the beach and then had a picnic. Plenty private space for everyone to enjoy without being too near each other. Only disappointment...saw a dog doing a poo in the sea....the owners never picked it up....spoils it for everyone. I absolutely love dogs and don't mind them at the beaches but some of their owners really need to take full responsibility. Take them away from waters for their toilet needs...Pick up after them...and dispose ccorrectly...not to throw the full bags along the walking path of any beach.
Otherwise all the beaches along the morar coast are worth visiting to enjoy water sports, swim, a walk, picnic or even to chill. Breath taking views.
Must visit...highly...
Read moreAbsolutely stunning location. Camusdarach Beach is a famous, beautiful stretch of white sand with turquoise waters on Scotland's west coast, known for its stunning views of the Small Isles (Rùm, Eigg, and Skye) and its feature in the film Local Hero. Located between Arisaig and Mallaig in the Highlands, it offers opportunities for walking, swimming, and picnicking, though facilities are limited. The beach is part of a larger dune and machair system, a rare habitat supporting rich plant and bird life.
Wildlife: You might spot seals, otters, dolphins, porpoises, various birds, and potentially even whales or basking sharks in the waters, and deer or pine...
