The area around the visitor centre and the dam is beatiful and lush this time of year. The visitor centre is small but neat and tidy, with a cafe, gift shop, small display on the history of the dam and toilet facilities (FOC). There is a large car park (FOC for the first hour and then ÂŁ3 all day stay) and there is also a well kept, gated playground for children up to age of 12 on the other side of the visitor centre. The downside is the very limited trail for wheelchair/pram users - it is substantially shorter compared to other trails (that cannot be accessed by wheelchair/pram users).

Elan Valley is a beautiful area to explore. Lots of walking routes, cycling and more. Very dog friendly although lots of sheep so keep dogs on lead. I suggest starting at the visitor centre to get info on where you want to go, maps and shop there too. Also cafe which was very busy when we went in but the coffee was nice.

Stunning views. Love it here. If you want to see it all you’d need a car or motor as it’s huge. If you love nature this one should not be missed. The pottery has my favourite pieces and the owner Duncan is super friendly and always happy to chat.
