If you're in the Keswick area, this spot is 100 percent worth the short detour. The drive up takes about 5 to 10 minutes depending on whether you need to pull off for other cars. It’s a single lane road, but there are plenty of spots to pull over. The drive itself is beautiful both going up and coming back down.
My wife and I are big Lord of the Rings fans, and the whole area felt like something straight out of the Shire. We put on some Hobbit-style music and it genuinely felt like we were driving through Middle-earth.
At the top there’s a good-sized parking area with a pay machine. It only cost a few dollars. From there, it's a super short walk to the view, maybe less than a minute. Just be careful at the edge because there’s no railing and the drop is serious.
The view is incredible. We were lucky to be there on a clear, sunny day and you can see almost the entire lake plus a couple of beautiful hotels and resorts in the distance. It was easily one of the best views we saw during our whole time in the UK. Make sure to look at the photos I attached to the review.
