We were visiting from Edinburgh for a day out in East Lothian. First stop was Tantallon Castle, where we had booked to spend a couple of hours. The weather we okay, pretty chilly, but thankfully we came prepared with warm clothes. The route over the grass from the entrance to the castle was pretty muddy and slippery, so watch your step.

On arrival we picked up an activity sheet for the kids, which would take us through the castle and ask various questions.

It's all well sign posted and lots of information boards, which is really helpful.

You can walk through a lot of the castle and right to the top too, which is great for views towards the Firth of Forth, towards the Lammermuir Hills and further afield.

After a couple of hours, it was onto the Seabird Centre for lunch and a visit to their Discovery Experience. As we left Tantallon Castle, our youngest decided to purchase a Scottish Castles kids book for his birthday money, as this day happened to be his birthday. A great wee shop with good books and also toys for kids.

Thanks to the team for the...

We visited on Saturday and the weather was glorious. Car parking facilities are available at no cost. You can buy tickets in advance online or pay at the entrance where you will find a small gift shop and some tasty ice cream . Toilets are available beside the entrance , and many benches are located throughout the grounds to sit back and relax.

Tantallon Castle is a must-see for anyone interested in history. The views are breathtaking, especially on a beautiful day. Bass rock is visible from the castle grounds.

The castle is so impressive, and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The stairs are very steep, but the short climb to the top is worth it when you see the views. Ropes are provided on the stairs to offer support.

Information points are located throughout the castle and grounds to read up on. I really liked the giant snakes and ladders game to provide further entertainment for visitors.

The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The admission cost if a non-member is reasonable. I highly recommend a visit you will not be...
