Went there today, not a bad cycle. Great place to have a proper look around the old gunpowder mill,so peaceful aswell. With pasty in hand I had a field day and was treated to a damsel fly photoshoot by one of the many little streams. A happy place, decaying the old building with an actual history/factual story behind it. Not sure on parking, but u can at least drive past (but it's hidden by trees and bushes) . I always take my headphones off for a bit to experience the peace/or noises if any(natural, like streams, insects, any animals)
Worth a look, even if it's for ten minutes...you'll end up being there for longer.
Hope I haven't put too many photos up,don't want to spoil it,but like with everything...u have to be there to appreciate it.
Plus side...nice day and weather for it,and only saw six people for the two hours I was there.
Ps. Take food/drink with u,as of yet I only know of a few pubs along the way and an offy. AND IT'S FREE TO VISIT...for now
May go again...at night time
Edit:second trip,I went to the parts I hadn't been, there are picnic tables, some more parts to the mill, tons of frogs at this time of year. Parking to the far end by the other entrance, two/three spaces, two hour stay only....free though. My kid enjoyed it and we even saw a snake swimming up...

Make sure you are wearing wellies. Any routes you choose are very muddy.
Great place for a picnic. There are some tables with benches installed too!
We have really enjoyed...
Read moreAtmospheric ruins of a gunpowder mill built around the Tillingbourne stream, set within peaceful woodland. Following the waterway you'll pass the remains of the boiler house and Victorian steam mills, expense magazine, wharf and a row of millstones. There are information boards at intervals along the trail, and free leaflets with a map of the walk. Following the whole route takes a couple of hours, with lots to see on the way. From here there's a great circular walk to St Martha's Hill via Albury and Silent Pool that takes a good few hours to complete. There's only space for a couple of cars at the start of the trail by Lockner Farm Lane, but it's not too long a walk from the village. After rain the paths can be very muddy so bring...
