Have eaten here often over the years, but this is the first time I've gone to the meat fridge to select our steaks. Naren, who had welcomed us into the pub, took us to look at the options. He brought out a selection; sirloin, T-bone, porterhouse, each individually packaged and numbered. Then he brought out a tomahawk, which I believe is their premium steak. We looked at each other and both decided that was the one to have. They were massive, maybe we should have gone for one between us, but hell, you only live once. We both like our steaks blue, which is always a risk, but I reckoned they wouldn't have lasted all these years if they didn't know how to cook steak. And they do. One of the best steaks I've ever had, the GF too. Just a perfect crunch on the outside but ultra rare, well bloody, inside without being cold. Tender, tasty, what more is there to say? I had a pepper sauce, which was superb, and my partner had a chimichurri sauce, which is a variation on salsa without being overwhelmingly spicy. It was good, but she'd go for the peppersauce next time just as a matter of personal choice rather than any fault with the sauce. It's not often I rate the side salad, but this one was worthy of mention. Small but perfectly formed, the tomatoes were sweet, the onions had bite and the greenery was fresh and tasty. I had a side of mushrooms with garlic and thyme and my partner had the spinach and kale au gratin. Both were excellent. I went skinny fries, she opted for chunky chips, both perfectly crisp on the outside, fluffy in the middle. We both admitted defeat about 2/3rds the way through our steaks, so they put them in a doggy bag to take away. No chance, dogs, too good for you. The service was attentive and friendly, the atmosphere relaxed and convivial. A great place to enjoy great food. Obviously not cheap at a shade over 60 quid a head for the food, plus an Aspinals and a couple of pints of the very drinkable Percy Ale but worth every penny. If you like steak, this is the place to go.

This review is for the restaurant only. Have been here quite a few times. This particular visit was at the end of August for a business meal. It was so good that I had another business meal there the following evening. The pub is beautiful. Bought and run by South Africans, you're getting the SA way of doing steak and barbecue. It's absolutely stellar. The steak is aged on the premises for 45 days. As part of the ordering experience you get to see the cuts of beef and select what you want. Good opportunity for them to upsell and we accepted nearly every suggestion. :-) We ordered 750g of Porterhouse steak with half a rack of ribs. Garden salad on the side to make us feel like we were being healthy, and broccolini. I say that about the salad because we didn't eat much of it. And, to be honest, that was the only slight downside about the food as it didn't seem as fresh as all the other ingredients. Maybe we are the only people that ordered it. You come here for steak, after all. Speaking of which, the steak was done medium rare. You can see from the pictures how it came out. Absolutely mouth melting. The ribs were a fantastic combo and the fries...well, can't go wrong with fries. The service was friendly, attentive and punctual. We were never rushed from the table. The Percy Arms is an incredible steak and barbecue restaurant set in an idyllic location without the London prices. And it's better than many steak houses I've been to in London. Highly recommended.

Pretty disappointing experience overall. After searching for dog friendly pubs near guildford crematorium I rang the Percy Arms up to confirm that the online information was still correct and was told yep, we open at (whatever time it was I can't remember) and dogs are still allowed. Perfect. On arrival we were quite sternly questioned "Did you book" which took me by surprise. I happily would have if told it was necessary, we did get sat down but felt like we were intruding. Service felt rather all over the place and disorganised. Someone came to take our order before I had to point out we had no menus to choose from. I ordered Eggs Benedict and my partner ordered toast and jam. Both of which were very sparse in appearance and not worth the price in my opinion, although what little I did have, tasted good. When one of our party arrived, dog in tow, he was then informed he could only stay in the bar area, which meant we had to rush down our breakfast so that we could join him. Again something that could have been explained on the phone previously. While it was a nice location and very convenient for the crematorium, it is not somewhere I will be visiting again sadly.

To Percy arms 75 Dorking Rd, Chilworth, Guildford GU4 8NP

Subject :against the service we received

This is to bring to your notice that we are extremely disappointed the service we have received at the Percy arms by your general manger, We made a booking on the 21st January 2023 under the name Brittany but for some reason he kept calling me Ricky! Our booking was made for 6pm Our starters arrived was lovely! Our mains was delayed but we saw the restaurant was busy! But we carried on our experience in a positive way after 45 minutes off waiting they arrived still trying enjoy our experience then we ordered pudding my husband ordered Belgian waffle and I ordered a sticky toffee pudding, all inside my pudding was burnt and thick black I called waiter what was the (General Manger) to see if they could do me alternative All I got told was No! And he was not taking it off my Bill I was totally shocked! By this. He took my pudding and went to kitchen came back aggressively saying,Chef really upset in 3 years he never had a complaint! But at the table he agreed saw it was all burnt as a paying customer and first time customer I have never felt so embarrassed and made feel a lier I asked to speak manger for his response say I am the general Manger! We don’t need your custom your not welcome back here and never recommended us to friends or family he always get better custom! I am so disappointed this has happened as Your general Manger needs Training how to respect Paying customers! Even people sat next us said they will never return and witnessed this! I also Called spoke to a different member staff he was so embarrassed and apologetic couldn’t believe how we was treated and said this will be passed...

We chose the Percy Arms as an overnight stop to break up a long journey. |We booked 2 rooms, a double for us and a twin for our adult son.|We were warmly greeted on arrival after a very long day, which was lovely, and a swift check-in meant we could go to our rooms and unwind. We were asked if we would like our bags taking to the rooms, but we only had a very small cabin bag so declined. But again, it was a lovely gesture.|The rooms are very clean, comfortable and nicely furnished. There are nice little touches in the rooms, such as coffee makers, magazines, USB adapters if you want to use a laptop etc… and the rooms were really comfy and warm. |We decided to have dinner at the restaurant as we were too tired to go looking elsewhere. We had 2 steak dishes and my son tried one of the South African dishes on offer. They were all very nice - the steaks were cooked perfectly how we like them (medium rare) and my son devoured the minced beef dish saying it was delicious! |We would have liked a few more chips with our steak but other than that it was all eaten and enjoyed. |The staff were very attentive and pleasant, and all in all we really enjoyed our meals.|We slept well and breakfast was included with the stay, so we all tucked in to a full English breakfast served to us by the owner. He was really lovely, very chatty and spoke to all of the guests, which was nice. We also learned a little about his time running the pub, and about the fantastic range of meats on show in his cold store (this place is a carnivores dream!)|Breakfast was really good! lovely produce and cooked to perfection. |All in all, I cannot fault the place and if we are ever down that way again, we will definitely stay...
