Greyfriars Vineyard — Attraction in Guildford

My partner and I had a lovely experience at the vineyard for our day out in Guildford. We tried walking there from the town center and wouldn't recommend that route because it was a lot of uphill so we got an uber to make it 10 mins early for the tour, otherwise we would have been late. Our guide was lovely and answered all our questions. Half of our tour members were late so we waited for them for 15 minutes and they were lovely to give us a glass of wine while we waited since the traffic seemed to be quite bad at the time so it was understandable. Definitely recommend wearing non-white shoes and checking the weather to see what it'll be like so that you dress appropriately since you'll be walking through the vineyards. The wine tasted great and it was white, rose, sparkling and still. They are releasing their red wine soon so I can't wait to taste that. It was definitely worth the price...

We were pleasantly surprised, not knowing what to expect from a 'Tour and Tasting'. Greyfriars operate a single estate business focused on their sparkling wines. We sampled four wines during a comprehensive two-hour tour that touched on history, wine making, bottling and storage, a little viticulture and background to their 'grape to glass operation. The panoramic views of the Surrey Hills from the outdoors tasting platform are spectacular, and the wines are great and diversifying into still - their Pinot Gris is almost Alsastian in style - it makes one wonder how Gewürztraminer would fare here...

Very easy to book, good communication before so we knew exactly where to come to.. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour. James was so knowledgeable, enthusiastic and professional it was one of our best vineyard tours. The lady assisting him(sorry forgot her name) was equally enthusiastic, they made a very good team. We loved tasting the wine as we toured around the site instead of tasting at the end. Also first time we have tasted wine straight from the wine vats, which was interesting. We enjoyed both the still and sparkling wines and thought being able to keep the tasting glass as a souvenir was a great touch.
