South Downs Discovery — Local services in Guildford

I have just finished walking the Southdowns way for the second time, again i booked with South Downs Discovery and the trip organisation and details were excellent, this time both my daughters joined me, one for the first two days and one for the last three days, for me spending time with my adult daughters is special as they are starting to make there own way in life. All the accommodation was to a high standard whether staying in a B+B or a hotel. I walked from Eastbourne to Winchester i think i found it a bit harder maybe because i am a few years older. For me walking the Southdowns way is a great Mental Health stress release which i think all walkers will agree with. Views, wildlife, Exercise and staying in great locations has been a great break from the daily grind particular this time during hopefully the end of Covid. Thanks to all at South Downs Discovery team for there organisation and availibilty during the trip.

We were planning trip to England, with only about 5 weeks notice, and all the national self-guided walking tour companies had said they were booked, or were not responding to us. Paul from South Downs Discovery, responded within a day, and used his intimate knowledge of the area to put together a great walking tour for us. Soon we received a personalized itinerary via email, followed by a guide book, map, and other items via regular mail. The personalized itinerary had details about where we were staying, where to go for dinner, whether reservations were necessary, good spots for picnic lunch, where to buy a picnic lunch, who to call if there were any problems, etc. We had a wonderful time with our beautiful walking holiday. The experience made me realize that this is the way to go for all walking tours. A small, local company capitalizes on the intimate knowledge of the region, and has the flexibility to provide a personalized experience. I walked the South Downs Way in May 2022 with South Downs Discovery as the organizing company. Originally booked in 2019 but had to cancel 3 times due to the pandemic that never ends. Throughout this entire time Paul Allshire was very flexible, understanding and helpful in looking at options and working with me to select an updated itinerary each time. One advantage with working with this company was their local knowledge, especial with the changing landscape during Covid. Pau; was able to find great B&Bs, each different it their own way. I also got excellent feedback from B&B owners about working with Paul. I definitely feel my experience was better than if I had gone with some of the other larger tour companies (this is also based on feedback I got from other walkers I met along the way.) The communication was very good and responsive. The materials provided were excellent and allowed me to have a stress free walk. The luggage transfers each day were done without any problem.
