The first time I visited the museum the gardens were beautiful I really wondered why they did not advertise more things and open a cafe serving afternoon tea or other things there for the community.
We joined a class at the museum run by lovely Julie she is excellent and the class has bought us closer together with the beauty and heritage of the Harlow museum.
I know that all the mums that attend the class love it and their kids are learning so much. This has become our favourite thing to do each week and we are so grateful for the class that Julie runs.
There is so much potential that could happen at the museum for kids and families if only more was happening here it would be good for Harlow and the community. We wish the projects al the best and support any up and coming activities
Ideas for the future Rent out rooms to local people in the community to utilise the space you have and to bring money into the museum Open the museum to other child-friendly classes to rent the rooms or to run free classes Open a coffee shop that is advertise and sells coffees and breakfast a proper one Charity events could host events here Art showcases Photography show cases
Hope the ideas help

Read moreVisited the museum on a quiet Tuesday and was well worth a visit, despite the poor weather. The staff were friendly and engaging and the exhibits were well displayed. Plenty of timeline history from bronze/iron age up to modern times with some interesting facts about some things that originated in the locality. All seemed accessible and the toilets were clean too. The walled gardens are a must and would have liked to see them in better weather and would visit again, especially on an event day. It looks like they must have a strong group of volunteers to keep the gardens looking so well. Some very unusual species. Use satnav to get here as the amount of roundabouts in Harlow is baffling and disorientating....
Read moreThis museum is well worth a visit. Lovely exhibits in each gallery and the old bicycles are excellent. The museum have a questionnaire for children to complete and dressing up opportunities. If you visit please don't forget to make a donation in the roman pot on the counter. Every penny helps keep the museum going. The wall garden is another gem. The Gin distillery was enormous and a good focal point of interest. Thank you to the two lovely ladies who were doing the arts and craft activity in the garden. Todays theme was design a record sleeve. My grandchildren had a brilliant time. Even my 2 year old got stuck in and created a picture. Over all we had a lovely time and certainly would...
