Here’s how to actually access this place If you park at the abandoned Sussex Exchange site, walk back up towards Queensway and turn left onto Queensway, about a two minute walk along the road there is an entrance on the left. It’s not particularly obvious from the road but it’s clearly a pathway and if you peer in you’ll see a green footpath sign that says “Crowhurst 2”. If you get as far as the little lay-by you’ve gone too far (although actually I do think you can enter from somewhere round there).
The reserve is really peaceful and pretty. Loads of bluebells (as of May 3rd) and shady wooded areas with some open meadow areas. We didn’t fully explore but will go back.
I only give four stars because it was so hard to find info about how to access the place! I actually found this little map (attached) on Facebook and hope the makers don’t...
Read moreNot easy to find!! You have to read up on how to find this place and where to park! It would of been made easier if there were some signs up of where this place was when you were close by. We drove around for ages trying to find it. Google maps was telling us in a different location to where it was. By the time we did find it we were fed up and didnt really enjoy it. Again in there, there could of been signs around the woods to help you get around as we got lost in there with constant dead ends. I would love to go back to see what we missed as feel there is a lot more to this place but for the long drive and lack of signs to show people where to go I wouldn't and...
Read moreReally peaceful and picturesque walks, but parking and access difficult, especially with dogs. There is a blocked off road where there is usually space to park on the left on the way towards Battle in the 40 mph zone. If you park there and walk down the road past the barriers and take the first left down into the filed, you can head straight down and through a small gate into the reserve. There really should be a dedicated car park next to the reserve as the car parks across the road are OK, but most of the traffic don't slow down to 40mph and just go through that section at the national speed limit, particularly as the speed limit signs are often obscured be trees most...
