Visited to experience the house dressed for Christmas. The theme was Alice in Wonderland. Truly awful, I couldn’t help but admire how much work must have gone into it but I didn’t enjoy it at all. Not slightly Christmassy, more like a weird nightmare which I felt was unsuited to the house. I cannot recommend it. The marquee next to the house had a Christmas shop, nothing special, and a very expensive cafe. The best part was the courtyard entrance and exit. Lovely shops, friendly staff and clean toilets. We used the blue badge parking by the entrance. Some is on tarmac, but some is on the unsurfaced main car park. A tractor “train” was a welcome help to get from the entrance to the house and back. Read moreEither during its rest period, when the fountain is off or when it is on, this fountain is a large and wonderful piece of sculpture. It is fed from a reservoir at a high point at the edge of Ray Wood. It is positioned in the gardens and the views of it both against the house and the countryside are lovely.
