Worth a visit if you're in the area. You can park just outside the pub, although it costs to park. ( navigation Inn ) You can get your money back if you spend in the pub. A few boats to look at, but mostly the feature is here is to walk along the waters edge. You can make this as long or as short a walk as desired. The river goes on for quite some time so you can walk for hours... No rails next to the waters edge so be careful with children. Dogs welcome, but it's advised to keep them on a lead as when you pass some fields the stone walls have fallen down and there's livestock in them.

Bugsworth Basin is lovely. We moored there a couple of times in 2019. The restoration work has been carried out to an amazing standard, and it’s a tranquil place to stay. There’s a nice walk up the old Peak Forest Tramway and a small visitors shop. The only reason we’ve given it 3 stars instead of 5 is because a guardian of the basin very rudely accused us of tipping ash on the towpath when it was actually there before we moored up. Despite politely insisting we were not responsible, he was quite rude and turned his back on us. Not very welcoming!

Great place to start a canoe / kayak or paddleboard trip from. The Peak Forest Canal is so beautiful, with views in places out over the valley towards Kinder Scout and the surrounding hills. Free parking alongside the entrance track with a few more by the waters edge. A small refreshment stall was open while we were there. The Navigation Inn is right alongside the entrance to the Basin - lovely when we stopped for food in the eveni. We've generally set off and travelled North as far as Disley (bridge 26) - a nice 3.5 miles out with plenty to see.

Bugsworth Basin is a historic place with things interest from the Industrial Revolution, there's the basin with many pretty boats, a small visitor's centre, an attractive location, and a pub. My wife and I took our two grandsons recently. The boys are lively and are aged 8 and 4. It was a quiet day, they ran around and had fun. It might not be Disneyland, but everything was quiet and peaceful, and free, apart from the ice creams. There was plenty of parking. It was a pleasant couple of hours. It's worth a look if you're nearby.

This place is so tranquil it's hard to believe it was buried in decades of rubbish! It was recently restored by volunteers. This place is so picturesque with lots of opportunities to take photos of wildlife and narrow boats Please consider a donation to the CANAL & RIVER TRUST. The CRT are about to lose a huge amount of support from the government. They maintain this rare piece of history. It would be so easy for this to be lost again. Enjoy this place all year round. Eeach season shows it off in a different way.

An interesting and nice walk from Whaley Bridge to Bugsworth Basin. You can find some explanations along the path that take you back to the XIX century and the beginning of the industry revolution. At Bugsworth basin there is a pub called Navigation Inn where you can seat outside and have a drink. It’s also interesting to walk to Kettleshulme and Taxal through the beautiful countryside of the Peak District.

Bugsworth Basin is a canal basin at the terminus of the Peak Forest Canal at Buxworth in the valley of the Black Brook, close to Whaley Bridge. It was once a busy interchange with the Peak Forest Tramway, for the transport of limestone and burnt lime.
