You enter Solomon’s Temple carpark and realise it’s quite a decent size. There is an honestly box for parking with a suggested donation of £2. It’s a little slit in the wall of the building in the carpark.
You walk towards the entrance to the temple which takes you through woodland. You will then follow the path and need to take steps down to the right. Not clearly marked at all.
Don’t be tempted to return a different route to the carpark without downloading something like the “Alltrails” app as you will surely get lost. There is a raised mound up to the carpark just as a side note.
You have a lovely 360 view when you reach the temple and climb the steps to the top. Lots of docile cows enroute too.
Be careful on a wet day particularly when you approach the temple doorway as there are some really slippy rocks. Don’t come a cropper like Roy!

Read moreA gorgeous short uphill woodland walk followed by a continued ascent over open hills which takes you to the curious tower known as Solomon's Temple. It's nice that it's open and it can be climbed up via a short spiral staircase.
Expect some lovely views on a clear day, but even on a dull and foggy day like my most recent visit, it's still a lovely way to spend an hour or so.
Combine your walk with a trip to Pooles Cavern, a fab show cave, and right next to the carpark for both Solomon's Temple and Poole's Cavern is a lovely little cafe. Go Ape Buxton is also located here. There was plentiful parking on a rainy Sunday in November, but I expect it would be a different story on a fine day!
The walking routes are easy to follow, but the initial ascent includes lots of steps and then it's a mild uphill all the way.
Not a good choice for those with mobility issues, prams or...
Read moreA nice walk through a forest brings you here to the temple. It's around half an hour to get there although uphill. It's not a complete day out, as there's nothing else up there really, just literally a view. Still worth a visit through. Postcode SK17 9DH takes you to pooles cavern car park, go ape entrance which is all in the same car park which is the one you'll need. Parking can be paid for by cash or card.. Toilets and cafe available. The paths up to the temple are ok, a bit muddy and leafy, so no good for buggies, but dogs and children ok. Plenty of views at the top once you reach the temple. You can even walk up the stairs within the temple for a 360 view, which on a clear day is quite spectacular. Very busy place especially at the weekends. Dogs are free to roam off lead, as no livestock about. Children off...
