Interesting place.It is fascinating how it's still standing after 200 years, even with trains rattling above! It was very peaceful and quiet when I visited on a weekday. I parked in a parking area a couple of miles down the canal and walked up the canal path, which I believe takes you to kendal. However, I took a detour through Levens hall and deer park and then along the river Kent to see the falls.    Read moreVery interesting listed monument. Canal tunnel on the derelict section of the Lancaster Canal between Tewitfield (near Carnforth) and Kendal. There is no access through the tunnel because there was no towpath, but there is a bit of water in it still. The horses which used to tow boats used the horse-path over the top.
