It's a good few hours out. It can probably be a bit boring for young kids, but there's loads to see here. Everything is well kept and clean and the whole place is spotlessly clean too. The staff are friendly as well. I'd say 3 to 4 hours is plenty time to see everything here, I certainly wouldn't want to spend less than 3 hours or you'll miss quite a bit. Things are well spaced out too, so in these times of social distancing, there's plenty of space to move and still see things. The village it's in is also well worth a visit too! It's a staggeringly beautiful area and you'll find plenty of places to visit there as well, so it's easy to make a full day of the whole area. Well worth a visit, just one point that's worth making and that is there are no refreshments inside, so nowhere to sit for a tea or coffee, but that's just a small grumble. They welcome your own food and drink, so take a flask and you'll be set!

Interesting glimpse into Yorkshire's past, with a wide variety of buildings and memorabilia from across the centuries. Very welcoming staff at reception, but we went in mid-February when there were few staff / volunteers on site, meaning there was no interaction in the various buildings, and explanatory signage was somewhat limited. I expect it's more dynamic in the summer, though it was nice not jostling with big crowds. Very pleasant to be able to take my friend's dog around the site (though not enough bins for waste disposal). Sheep and chickens were popular with children. The Harrison collection was an eclectic and engaging mixture of historical items. A nice gift-shop, with lovely adjoining pub and tea rooms. The entrance ticket is valid for a year, and I certainly intend to come back at a busier time.

Called in here yesterday and spent 2 hours looking around the 6 acre site. We realy liked the way that you are treated like an adult and are able to enter the rooms and look around, not get filed past them on the other side of a barrier in case you touch something. Most of the shops you expect someone to pop up from behind the counter to serve you, and the cottages give the impression of still being lived in. It is well worth the entry fee which is actually a yearly pass and gives discount at the cafe in the village as well. If there was one thing I would suggest it would be some paving slabs in places. As it had been raining, by the time we had finished my wifes feet were wet through with having to walk on the grass to get into places, the white cottage for example. Overall a great place though.

Fabulous open air museum situated a pleasant tranquil village in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. The museum has a range of buildings from different periods of history and these buildings range from basic cottages and Manor houses to Roundhouses, a Chemist, Grocery Shop from the 1950s, Blacksmiths, Coopers, Tinmakers and a Cobblers. You can go in all of the buildings and get an idea of what life and work from those periods of history and is done in a very clear way making it all the more interesting and insightful. There are some informative interesting information boards dotted around the site detailing about the buildings and the best part of the buildings is the fact they have been dismantled from other villages locally and put back in their original state which is fantastic work and attention to detail. Visitors can also wander an interesting wedding exhibition detailing some of the weddings of the local people in the area over the years and there is some interesting agricultural machinery to see on the site along with an apple orchard, which is also good. There is a small gift shop on the site with a nice selection of gifts at reasonable prices. Overall a delightful and insightful day out learning about the lives of...

A super folk museum and well worth a visit for all ages and well worth 5 stars. Set out with a range of historic buildings which were rescued from around the area all open to explore. Old and young alike enjoyed taking selfies and dressing up for the part while exploring. As well as the static displays there were a number of animals which could be fed and a couple of the houses had interpreters. Lots of information boards around so was very educational which took some of us oldies back to times past. Plenty of space for the children to run around and lots of places to picnic. Our dog (on a lead) was very welcome and there's plenty of water available. On site there are M/F and disabled toilets and a small shop. There's no cafe but at the time of our visit (April 2019) there's 10% discount in the village cafe's (all excellent) on production of your ticket. Admission was £8.00 for adults and the ticket gives entry for a year. There's plenty of parking ether in the National Parks car park 2 mins away or in the Crown Public house car park next to the site - both have parking meters coins only. Looking forward to...

What a great museum, caters for all ages, apart from how informative it was and how well set up, I was really impressed by how friendly the staff are, informative and welcoming, they are a credit to the museum however from my perspective, I was trying to find a birthday outing for my Dad aged 82 and not great with mobility and to find they have aids as in mobility scooters to help the less able enjoy the full experience really made it a special day for him to reminisce and tell me stories I'd never heard before about his childhood and growing up. The day we went started of very dismal and rainy so we were able to go for a coffee after looking at sine exhibits and then go back when it faired up to finish the tour and we were given another drier scooter to continue which I thought was such a lovely thoughtful touch. We can also go back within a year on the same ticket as many times as we like which is amazing for the price. I highly recommend a visit and even if you don't go back it is definitely worth the money for...
