We visited this place after visiting an attraction local to the area.

Parking was £3, but if you ate at the pub it was free. We were unsure how this works so sadly didn’t benefit from this , I wish there was more instructions and that staff asked this. The parking space had quite a bit of room and was plenty of spaces left.

We spent over £140 on 4 adults and 3 children here today. It was a bit more than we wanted but the food wasn’t your normal pub grub, it was more… posh/fancier. The food that was served looked really well plated, well cooked, with some good flavours. The portions however were a lot smaller. We visited on a Sunday so the Sunday dinner was available and this was incredibly small for the price of £19. 1 big Yorkshire pudding, 1 ice cream scoop of mash, 1 roast potato, thick meat (we ordered pork and it was a pork loin). The children’s meal actually had more chips than my fish, which was a surprise. But the food was really great. Staff really nice, service nice, food was good, the price is just on the steep end, but I would go back

The place is clean, toilets look fabulous to say it’s a pub too. Management definitely take care of the place which is...

Had a great overnight stay at The Crown in the Rose lodge. Quality fixtures and fittings, everything well laid out and designed. Small kitchen area with enough crockery and utensils to prepare meals if you wish, a seating area in front of the tea and a comfortable king sized bed. Large en suite with walk in shower. Added bonus of a patio area at the back of the room. We parked in the car park for free at the front of the lodge. Going forward it would be helpful if the spaces in front of each property were reserved for guests as the carpark gets very busy. Our dog stayed with us at a cost of £10, I didn't know about this ahead of arrival, this would of been handy to know in advance. The rooms are self catering but the owners are kind enough to stock the kitchen with tea, coffee, sugar, milk, orange juice, bread, butter, conserves and small packs of cereal. |We had a tasty meal sat out at the front of the pub served by friendly staff. Thank you to all for a...

A charming old pub in the middle of a quaint, gorgeous village in Yorkshire between York and Whitby, The Crown was empty when we arrived in the early afternoon. They had a selection of bitters and cask ales. I had a piny of Wainwright and my wife a half shandy. The staff were very friendly. There was a fire blazing and we accessed their wifi as there was no cellular reception in the area while we enjoyed our drinks. We did not eat, but the menu looked nice although the prices were a bit steep for such an isolated location. They also have three double rooms that are ridiculously expensive, running between £200 and £220 per night in mid-February. The village is quiet and absolutely beautiful with old rock buildings and cottages as well as a creek running from the old church at the top of the hill through the small valley that surrounds Hutton-le-Hole. Stopped here for lunch whilst cycling in the area. Really good experience from the moment we sat at the bench outside. The staff were really friendly and helpful. They even offered to fill up our drinks bottles for us whilst we were there. 3 of us had the ploughman's- which was fantastic, with some really good cheeses - and some chunky ham, and warm baguettes. The sandwiches the other guys ordered looked good also. We also had a little guest come and join us for lunch - a tabby cat came and sat with us, who was more than happy to eat the scraps that fell off our plates. We wish we were able to stay for longer - but needed to cycle back towards Malton. A lot of pubs could learn a few things from the staff here at The Crown- great service at a reasonable price. Thanks for a great meal!!
