I visited today with 5 children, during the summer holidays. It was very busy, but managed to get parked in the overflow carpark. This is not wheelchair friendly but the other two car parks are. The shop, and gallery area are all suitably accessible . We did not go in them. The toilets are clean and stocked well there is also a disabled and baby change in these facilities. The floor was a little muddy but outside was muddy. We were not visiting the hall or gardens today, there was a trail going on in the gardens, at a cost of a ÂŁ1 per trail sheet . We walked down towards the stream, there are two ways one which is accessible , and one with stair's. The children had great fun exploring the pathways and playing in the stream. We sat at one of the many picnic benches and ate our lunch. We then had a run around the parklands playing football and frisbee . There are lots of dog walkers, so it is a great place for all the family and dogs to visit. All the children were very excited to go in the woodland play ground, they enjoyed building dens and playing on the slide and monkey bars. There is some broken equipment that has not been replaced for a long time now . There is also a fenced of playground with the usual swings , roundabouts and climbing frames. There is another larger car park down near the visitor center too. We did not go inside the visitor center but we did enjoy an ice cream and a cuppa. ÂŁ12.40 for 4 cones and a tea. There are two toilets that are clean and accessible with baby change.

Great place for a walk/dog walk ,good for a picknick and exploring nature and history as the hall itself is a museum, theres woodland a large grass area and streams running through good paths with marked routes and notice boards, theres toilets and a cafe and a barn thats used for events throughout the year.parking is free with disabled access and parking near to the hall itself that paticular carpark does close later in the day so check sign for details, the larger carpark off bradford road at the bottom of the counrty park is open all day so use this one if u visit early or late in the day.

This review is about The Willows cafe at Oakwell Hall - December 2024

The Willows has now taken over the Cafe near the hall. The cafe people are now helpful and kind, quite the opposite from what it was before. Food good. Prices Moderate. But most of all it is now staffed by nice, kind people. We have been to the new cafe several times and the staff attitude has completed changed from the unhelpful people who used to run it. Food now delivered quickly and efficiently even when there are a lot of customers waiting. Oakwell Hall is a wonderful place to walk dogs and now dogs are allowed in the cafe whilst you eat there - previously they were only allowed to go to the counter.

Well done Oakwell Staff for making eating at Oakwell a pleasure again.

Please pass this review onto those who run The Willows cafe and to the people who run Oakwell including the...

I read the reviews about this place before visiting, and I wasn't disappointed!!! There's so many different walks / routes to try. Some are open, some hilly, some woodland etc. There was a lot of kids paddling in the streams too which was great. Plenty of benches near the visitor centre, but less when you're on the walks. Great place for a picnic as lots of open grassy areas. There's a children's play area too on the walk.

Oakwell Hall is worth a visit too....and it was free!! They only reopened on the 17th July too. The rooms are well equipped with historical items, and some video to watch on your way around. It certainly gave a good insight into the way the lived.

The one slight downside, is some of the walking routes could be better marked out. There are periodic signs saying "you are here", but that's all. Free parking too, so what have you...
