Vell, here is a lovely thousand year old abbey. The most of the original building obviously collapsed, but this small chaoel is still there,on this lovely location, out of use.Windows are bricked up,the information sign completely faded, and the visitor stand literally in the sheep poo to see it.Boots tecommended, later you can at least wash it down in the sea... The nature, the seashore with the lighthouse is beautiful, but nothing around for miles, exept for the barbed wire. I'd say good walk from the nearest car park and back.Sad,there is a lot more...

Although not alot to see normally, we were lucky enough to be walking the coast path on a day that it was open, and inside were lots of bits of history, in photos, diagrams, and experts. Showing what it was like in the past, and about the excavation work done about 100years ago. The finds were recovered so the rest of the ruins are still under the field. Nice photo opportunity, right on...

For us the surrounding scenery was more impressive than the remains of the Abbey, but that doesn't change my recommendation to visit - partly for the Abbey but mostly for the amazing views and the coastline, either a short walk up from the Cockerham Sands car park, or a longer walk down from Glasson Dock. One a clear, sunny day, the views are impressive, and the Abbey reminds of...

An impressive historical abbey in a wild and yet peaceful coastal setting. Great for a stroll along the low cliffs or beach in any weather. Cannot always get to see inside the Abbey, indeed it is quite empty anyway, but that does not detract from it's medieval interest. Quirky little place in an unspoilt part of the Lancashire coastline that holds it's own beauty.
