A great structure to photograph at sunset when the tide is out. Make sure you don't linger here as the tide can come in really fast & it's quite a long way back to the shore from the lighthouse. There's not really a beach here, mostly shingle, mud & mussel beds but no mud you'll sink into if you stick to the rocky areas. There's a small car park nearby but only cars & vehicles with very good ground clearance can get to it. It's NOT suitable for vehicles with long wheel bases, such as vans. You'll get stuck. You have been warned. No toilets or other amenities. As with most nice, peaceful places it now seems to be a spot that the local youth gather in the evenings & ruin the atmosphere. One star off for that. The road to the car park is mainly only wide enough for one car & there aren't too many passing places.

Lovely, quiet and secluded lighthouse near Cockersands Abbey. The little lighthouse, which had to be reconstructed throughout 2017 after a ship crashed into it, has retained its character nicely. Plenty of bird life around. The only thing that blights the view is the big, ugly reactor building at Heysham. Because of the flat nature of the coast the tide can rise up very quickly so be aware if you intend to spend some time out there.

A gorgeous bit of shoreline, enabling wonderful photos of the lighthouse. Some uneven terrain to get out there, and at full low tide you can get pretty close. If you are going to wander out, PLEASE check tides & the weather before you head out - the mud & gravel shifts so you could easily get cut off if you're not careful. The carpark shuts at sunset, so be sure to leave before then.
