A beautiful unspoilt and well managed picnic area. Plenty of free parking, wheelchair accessible, riverside walks with some seating (although unfortunately vandals chose to set fire to one of the best seats, razed to the ground and not replaced!). There are plenty of parking spaces, and from there you can walk either towards Lanchester or towards Durham. You can walk along the river for a little bit or join the old railway line straight away.
