Malton Picnic Area — Attraction in Lanchester

A beautiful unspoilt and well managed picnic area. Plenty of free parking, wheelchair accessible, riverside walks with some seating (although unfortunately vandals chose to set fire to one of the best seats, razed to the ground and not replaced!). Kingfishers and otters can be spotted on the river if it's very quiet and at the right time of day. Two picnic tables, with a third a short walk away in another area. I have driven past this place without ever stopping for years... until recently, and what a find it was! There are plenty of parking spaces, and from there you can walk either towards Lanchester or towards Durham. You can walk along the river for a little bit or join the old railway line straight away. It is beautiful, peaceful, with lots of wildlife. It will be a regular stop for us from now on for a stretch of legs. Enjoy it,...

Full off dog shets everywhere you stepping is one ,can't have a relaxing walk without a dog jumping on you ,a nightmare for the kids to walk without getting harassed by dog's, one day i saw a woman grooming her dogs on the picnic table disgrace and carelessness for community, not a relaxing picnic area anymore.
